Trip to El Calafate, Argentina
Day 1: Arrival and Exploration
Upon arrival at the El Calafate International Airport, make your way to the hotel where you can relax for a bit before starting your trip. Take some time to explore the small town and walk along the waterfront bordering Lago Argentino. You could also visit the Museo Histórico Regional to learn about the history of the area and the impact of glaciers. In the evening, enjoy some food and drinks at one of the local restaurants in town.
Day 2: Los Glaciares National Park
Wake up early and head to Los Glaciares National Park, one of the most stunning natural wonders in Argentina. This park is home to Glaciar Perito Moreno, one of the most popular tourist attractions in the area. You can take a tour to walk on the glacier, or you can simply observe it from a distance. Afterwards, visit the Glaciarium, an interactive museum that explains the history and science of glaciers.
Day 3: Trekking
Today is a free day to explore the area. Take part in a guided tour to hike in some of the beautiful areas around El Calafate, such as the Laguna Torre or Cerro Fitz Roy. The scenery is spectacular and the treks are not too difficult, making it a great activity for all ages. You can also take part in a horseback riding tour to explore the area.
Day 4: Estancia Cristina
Today, take a full day tour of Estancia Cristina, a historic ranch surrounded by glaciers and spectacular landscapes. Take a 3 hour boat ride on Lago Argentino and finally reach the estancia, where you will be served lunch. After lunch, take a tour of the Estancia’s museum and learn about the history and culture of the place.
Day 5: Calafate Mountain Park and Canopy
Today, take part in some adventure activities in Calafate Mountain Park. Take a chairlift to the top of the mountain and enjoy the spectacular views of the surrounding area. Then take part in a canopy tour, which allows you to fly over the trees with professional guides ensuring your safety throughout the activity. In the evening, enjoy some more food and drinks in town.
Day 6: Perito Moreno Glacier
Today, return to Glaciar Perito Moreno to experience it up close. There are many activities available, such as taking a boat ride to see the glacier from a different angle or hiking on the ice. Take part in one or more of these activities, or simply stand and admire the view.
Day 7: Departure
Today is your departure day. You can spend the morning relaxing at your hotel or doing last minute shopping for souvenirs. After check-out, catch your flight back home from El Calafate International Airport.
