Day 1: Arrival and City Exploration
Upon arrival in Vienna, check into your hotel and freshen up. You can start your exploration of Vienna at the historic center of the city, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. St. Stephen’s Cathedral is one of the most iconic landmarks of Vienna that dates back to the 14th century. You can then head towards the Opera House, another must-visit destination in the city. If you want to grab a bite to eat while you’re out, head to the famous Naschmarkt for food and drinks.
Day 2: Explore the Imperial Palaces
On your second day, you can explore the imperial palaces of Vienna. Schönbrunn Palace, former summer residence of the Austrian imperial family, is a must-visit attraction that dates back to the 18th century. The palace has 1,441 rooms and gardens that were designed in Baroque style. After exploring the palace, visit Belvedere Palace, which is known for its ornate architecture and impressive gardens. It is home to a vast collection of art, including Gustav Klimt’s famous painting, The Kiss.
Day 3: Visit Hofburg Palace and Spanish Riding School
Today you can visit Hofburg Palace, the former winter residence of the imperial family. With over 2,600 rooms, the palace is one of the largest in Europe and now serves as the official residence of the President of Austria. After exploring the palace, head to the Spanish Riding School, situated within the Hofburg Palace complex. The school is famous for its Lipizzaner horses and balletic equestrian performances.
Day 4: Museums and Art
Vienna is home to many great museums and art galleries, which you may visit on your fourth day. Kunsthistorisches Museum is one of the most impressive museums and is known for its vast collection of art and historical artefacts, including the works of famous artists like Vermeer and Rubens. If you are a fan of contemporary art, visit the Museum of Modern Art, or MUMOK, which houses an extensive collection of pop art, surrealism, and Austrian expressionism.
Day 5: Take a Walk in Prater Park
Today you can spend some time enjoying nature and fresh air at Prater Park, which is one of the most famous parks in Vienna. You can take a walk or cycle around the park, enjoy a ride on the Giant Ferris Wheel or visit one of the many restaurants and cafes in the area.
Day 6: Visit the Wine Regions
Vienna is an excellent destination if you are a wine lover. You can visit the vineyards surrounding the city and taste some of Austria’s best wines. The Wachau Valley and the Danube Valley are two of the most famous destinations that are just a short drive away.
Day 7: Shopping and Nightlife
On your last day, take some time to explore the shopping streets of Vienna, which offer a wide selection of local and international brands. The Goldenes Quartier, located in the city center, is one of the best places to shop in Vienna. In the evening, head to one of the many bars or clubs in the city, such as the Babenberger Passage or Volksgarten Club Disco, and enjoy the vibrant nightlife of Vienna.
