Trip to Cat Island, Bahamas
Day 1: Arrival
Welcome to Cat Island! Upon arrival at the airport, you will be met by your accomodation representative who will transfer you to your hotel or resort. Take the rest of the day to rest and relax from your travels, explore the nearby beach, and try some of the delicious local food! Be sure to try some fresh seafood, such as grilled fish or conch fritters, and sample some traditional Bahamian cuisine like peas n’ rice and guava duff for dessert.
Day 2: Scuba Diving and Snorkeling
Cat Island is known for its crystal-clear waters and amazing underwater scenery, so today we recommend you take the opportunity to witness it firsthand with a scuba diving or snorkeling excursion. Explore the vibrant coral reefs and encounter an array of tropical sea creatures, from colourful fish to sea turtles. An experienced guide will take you around to the best spots and ensure your safety during your exploration.
Day 3: Visit The Hermitage
Today we recommend visiting The Hermitage, a historical cliff-top chapel located on Mount Alvernia — the tallest point in the Bahamas. This small stone chapel features spectacular views of the surrounding area and offers an insight into the island’s unique history and culture. Make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes as the uphill walk to reach the chapel can be steep for some.
Day 4: Cat Island Fishing Tour
Today, head out on a deep sea fishing trip and try your luck catching some of the Bahamas’ famous gamefish. With beautiful clear waters and some of the world’s best professional fishermen nearby, you have the opportunity to catch some amazing fish such as Mahi-Mahi, Wahoo and Tuna. Be sure to bring your camera along to capture the memorable moments with your catch. After a day of fishing, you can have your fish prepared in a local restaurant.
Day 5: Relax on the Beach
Cat Island is home to stunning beaches that are perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and unwinding. Today, take some time to relax on the beach and enjoy the warm sun and crystal-clear blue waters or go for a walk along the sands. Try some beach activities such as kayaking or paddleboarding.
Day 6: Day tour of New Bight
New Bight is one of Cat Island’s largest settlements which offers tours taking in its rich culture and history. The tour will take you around to some of the island’s beautiful historical sites, show you where local crafts are made and baked, and you will also interact with the locals while you are visiting. Afterwards, take time to explore the village’s shops and restaurants for delicious homemade meals, souvenirs, and handcrafted goods.
Day 7: Departure
Sadly, it’s time to leave Cat Island today. You will be transferred to the airport for your flight back home with a heart full of memories.
