Day 1: Arrival and Exploring the City

For your first day in Barisal, we recommend walking around the city’s sugarcane fields and rice paddies, where the local farmers will be happy to show you their fields and teach you about their culture. Don’t forget to visit some of the famous markets featuring fish and cane merchandise. In the evening allows yourself to unwind at the hotel spa or enjoy a drink at the hotel lounge.

Day 2: Bagerhat Day Trip

This morning, you will visit the famous Bagerhat, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a cultural city in the Khulna division of Bangladesh. Your guide will give you a tour of the tomb of Khan Jahan Ali, the 60-domed mosque, and other old mosques and tombs in the city. It is a great opportunity to indulge in the ruins of the past and observe its remnant culture. The architecture of various built sites of the city dates all the way back toward the 15th century. At night, you will return to Barisal, indulge in the city’s food scene, and return to your hotel to get some good night’s sleep.

Day 3: Shopping

Today is the day for you to indulge in your inner shopaholic; we will suggest that you explore the city’s local markets. In Barisal’s famous rice market, you can enjoy the flavours of local culture by exploring and shopping for unique souvenirs, handmade jewelry and the iconic purple sarees. For visitors interested in the rural countryside, our suggestion is to visit the Rajapur’s market, famous for its ribbon production. At night, you can return to your hotel to relax and perhaps indulge in a meal at the hotel’s restaurant.

Day 4: St. Martin’s Island Day Trip

Located around 200 kilometers from Barisal city lies St. Martin’s Island, the only coral island of Bangladesh, and one of the country’s most renowned natural treasures. Situated beside the Bay of Bengal, this Island offers a glorious view of the sea with many water sports activities available for visitors. It is a perfect spot to enjoy the island’s pristine atmosphere by strolling up its white sandy beaches, taking a dip in the turquoise water, and enjoying the unique seafood available at the island’s cafés and restaurants. In the evening, return to your hotel in Barisal city.

Day 5: Local Culture and Cuisine

Today, you will get to savour the local cuisine of Barisal. At breakfast, enjoy some rice-based dishes such as khichdi, khichuri or biriyani which are Bangladesh’s authentic staples. In the afternoon, visit the Barisal river which is the city’s pride and is known for its abundant seafood. You can book a traditional wooden boat to sail along the river and nearby canals, watching the country from the natural perspective. In the evening, return to your hotel, hop onto the rooftop restaurant and plan your next day with some local beers, or hookah to inhale and exhale the top flavours of the city.

Day 6: Going Back in Time

Today you will visit the 200-year-old Kirtipasha Zamindar bari, a majestic mansion that once served as the zamindari’s residence. Your guide will take you through the corridors where you will discover portraits of the zamindars who ruled the area and learn about the history of the region. This would be the perfect day for history buffs as they will learn from the time gone by. Later in the day, you can head back and prep for your departure.

Day 7: Farewell to Barisal

Today, you will enjoy your last moments in Barisal. After breakfast, you can stroll and clean off an experience in the rural villages where you witness the simplicity of life and the locals’ warm welcomes. Once you finish the rural village tour, you can get ready to say your goodbyes to Barisal and its beauty before catching your flight back home.
