Trip to Speightstown, Barbados
Day 1: Arrival and Relaxation
Upon arrival at the Grantley Adams International Airport in Barbados, you will be transferred to the lovely little town of Speightstown. Once arrived, and after settling in your accommodation, you can spend some time relaxing, pampering yourself with the local spa treatments. Day 2: Explore Speightstown
Start your day by exploring the beautiful and historic Speightstown, where you will get to know about the rich history of the town while marvelling at the stunning colonial architecture. You can start your tour by visiting the Arlington House Museum which is a restored 18th-century house that details the life of a wealthy plantation owner. Downtown Broad Street is also an ideal place for shopping for handmade souvenirs and locally made products. You can also visit some of the stunning beaches in Speightstown including Mullins Beach, Gibbes Beach or Heywoods Beach while you enjoy mouthwatering Barbadian cuisine at the restaurants alongside.
Day 3: Harrison’s Cave National Park
On your third day, visit the magnificent Harrison’s Cave National Park where you can explore some of the most stunning natural limestone caves in the world. You can wander through the cave system, marveling at the stunning features, while learning about the cultural and natural history of Barbados. Visitors will also get to know more about the bats and the creatures that make their home within the caves.
Day 4: Animal Flower Cave
Located on the north coast of Barbados, the Animal Flower Cave is one of the island’s most famous natural attractions. It’s an enchanting, eerie place full of huge rock formations, crystal clear tidal pools, underground cave systems and coral floors. You will have an opportunity to witness this beautiful cave up close and enjoy the spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean.
Day 5: Snorkeling and Scuba Diving
Go snorkelling or scuba diving, and explore the wonderful underwater world located in close proximity to the Island. The coral reef and the underwater life near Speightstown is rich and truly something special. You can take a guided tour or rent equipment to explore the local marine life.
Day 6: Rum tour
Barbados is famous for its rum and on your penultimate day, you can visit Mount Gay, the world’s oldest and most celebrated rum distillery. You can take a tour of the distillery while learning the secrets to the perfect mix of sugar cane, spring water, and Barbadian time that make Mount Gay rum so good. Also, get to know more about their rum history dating back to 1637 and end your tour with a rum sampling.
Day 7: Departure
On the final day of your trip, enjoy your last few hours in Speightstown. You can shop for souvenirs or even visit the local farmers market. Finally, transfer to the airport in time for your flight home.
