Day 1: Arrival in Ruse

Welcome to Ruse, Bulgaria! Upon arrival, check-in to your hotel and spend some time freshening up. In the evening, head to Svoboda Square, a beautiful public square in the center of town, where you can experience Ruse’s nightlife. You can grab a bite to eat at one of the numerous restaurants that offer a wide range of local and international cuisine, followed by drinks and live music at one of the bars.

Day 2: Explore Ruse City

Today, start off the day by strolling along the Danube River, which offers stunning views of the bridge connecting Ruse with Romania. Then visit the Regional Historical Museum, which showcases the history of Ruse, from the Roman Era to the modern times. You can also visit the Boutique cinemas to take in some international or local films. For shopping, visit Rousse Plaza, a trendy shopping complex that houses the world-class brands and boutiques.

Day 3: Visit Monasteries and Churches

Today, head out of the city to visit one of the beautiful Bulgarian monasteries and churches nearby. The Ivanovo Rock Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a must-visit. The monastery is sculpted into a rock cliff right next to Rusenski Lom, a river famous for its natural beauty. You can also visit Basarbovo Monastery, the only active rock monastery in Bulgaria.

Day 4: Excursion to Veliko Tarnovo

Take a day trip to Veliko Tarnovo, the former capital of Bulgaria, located about 40 minutes away from Ruse. Veliko Tarnovo is famous for its beautiful hilltop fortress, Tsarevets, which was once the residence of the Bulgarian Tsars. You can also visit the Samovodska Charshia Street, a popular pedestrian street with many souvenir shops, cafes and restaurants that showcase some of the authentic Bulgarian cuisine.

Day 5: Wine Tasting

Bulgaria is known for its wine and today you will have the opportunity to explore some of the vineyards surrounding Ruse, such as Chateau Burgozone, Edoardo Miroglio Winery or the Terra Tangra Winery. These vineyards offer guided tours and wine tastings, where you can sample some of the best Bulgarian wines and learn about the wine-making process.

Day 6: Tour of Rusenski Lom

Today you will take a tour of Rusenski Lom Nature Park with its deep gorges, flowing river, and numerous natural hot springs. Here you can take a relaxing walk along the beautiful scenic trails, visit some of the small villages, and get a glimpse of Bulgarian rural life. Before sunset, head to Baba Vida Fortress, a medieval castle on the banks of the Danube River, for a stunning view.

Day 7: Departure

End of your trip and it’s time to say goodbye to Ruse. After breakfast, check-out of your hotel, and head to the airport or train station to continue your adventure in Bulgaria or head back home.
