Day 1: Arrival and Relaxation
Upon arrival to Halifax, make your way to your hotel for check-in. Take some time to relax and unwind after your travels. Halifax is known for its scenic views so be sure to take a stroll along the Halifax waterfront boardwalk. Here you will find unique shops and restaurants, live music, buskers, and street performers. Halifax has a rich history and culture which is worth exploring along the harbor.
Day 2: Downtown Halifax Sightseeing
Today is a great day to explore the vibrant downtown Halifax area. Begin at the Old Town Clock on Citadel Hill and head down to the Halifax Public Gardens. These stunning gardens which began blooming in 1867, is a perfect setting for a picnic lunch. After lunch, visit the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site - the star-shaped fortress is one of the most visited sites in Halifax. The tour of the site explains Halifax’s 18th- and 19th-century military history.
Day 3: Peggy’s Cove and Lunenburg
Take a scenic drive along the coast to the charming fishing village of Peggy’s Cove. The famous lighthouse has stood on this granite shelf since 1915 and provides a perfect photo op. Unwind at the Sou’wester Restaurant and Gift Shop nestled in the village. On the way back to Halifax, stop by the quaint town of Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Take a walking tour of the historic town and see why it is referred to as the “Maritime Bostons”.
Day 4: Halifax Shopping
Shopping is a must in Halifax, with everything from chain stores to local boutiques; you can never go wrong. If you are looking for some unique souvenirs, visit the Seaport Farmers Market, the oldest continuously running farmer’s market in North America. Other shopping destinations worth a visit are Spring Garden Road and Barrington Street where you will find various local shops and theatres.
Day 5: Halifax Nightlife
There is no other better way to experience the great nightlife Halifax has to offer than to visit its vibrant bars and pubs. Head to the Halifax Casino to test your luck, it also hosts live music from popular local artists. Other notable nightclubs include The Dome and Pacifico. Getting to know the city through its nightlife is a unique way to experience Halifax’s culture and atmosphere.
Day 6: Halifax Museums and Galleries
Halifax has a variety of museums and galleries showcasing both Maritime and Canadian history. The Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 is an excellent place to start the day. It offers a unique interactive experience showcasing Canada’s multicultural past. After that, head to the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. The gallery has an extensive collection of works by well-known artists and offers workshops and events for art enthusiasts.
Day 7: Departure
It’s time to say goodbye to Halifax! If you have time before your departure, visit the Halifax Central Library or take a relaxing walk through Point Pleasant Park, where the ocean view is breathtaking.
