Trip to South Sound, Cayman Islands

Day 1: Arrival and Relaxation

Welcome to South Sound, Cayman Islands! On your first day, take some time to relax and settle into your accommodations. Your hotel or resort may offer spa treatments or beach lounging. If you’re feeling adventurous, take a stroll to the South Sound Beach or the Governor’s Beach, which are both just a short distance away. There are also plenty of restaurants in the area offering a wide selection of Caribbean cuisine for you to enjoy.

Day 2: Stingray City Tour

Today, you will embark on a tour of one of the Cayman Islands’ iconic natural wonders – Stingray City. You will have the opportunity to feed and swim with southern stingrays in their natural habitat. After your encounter with the stingrays, your tour boat will take you to Coral Gardens & Barrier Reef where you can go snorkeling and explore the vibrant and diverse underwater environment.

Day 3: George Town

On Day 3, we recommend taking a trip to George Town, the capital of the Cayman Islands. If you are interested in shopping, exploring art galleries, or museums, then you will find it all within the town. If you want to indulge in local cuisine, try the local dish of fish fry, which is a delicious combination of fish and festival dumplings. You can also visit the Cayman Islands National Museum or the Cayman Islands Brewery.

Day 4: Pedro St. James

Pedro St. James is a historical site and heritage landmark referred to as the “Birthplace of Democracy” in the Cayman Islands. It is located on the southwestern side of Grand Cayman, overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Tourists can explore the castle and learn about its history and how it came to be the heart of a movement that led to the formation of a democratic government in the Cayman Islands. It’s an historic attraction that is worth a visit.

Day 5: Beach Day

Wake up, enjoy breakfast and head out to one of the many beautiful beaches located in South Sound, such as Smith’s Cove and Seven Mile Beach. These beaches offer crystal-clear waters, white sand beaches, and opportunities for snorkeling, swimming, and sunbathing. On Seven Mile Beach, there are plenty of bars and restaurants to try out local cuisine. Beaches are also perfect for taking a dip or just lounging.

Day 6: Bioluminescent Bay Kayak Tour

On your second last day of the trip, we suggest you take a bioluminescent kayak tour. Watch the water light up at night as you explore the magical bay in a guided kayak tour. It is a truly unique and surreal experience. The bioluminescent creatures light up in response to movement, so be prepared to have the show follow your paddles and hands.

Day 7: Departure

On your final day in South Sound, we recommend taking one final stroll around the beach or enjoying a final meal at your hotel or at one of the many restaurants. You can also do some last-minute shopping or simply relax before heading back home. A car rental could also allow you to explore areas outside of South Sound, so you can get the most out of your trip.
