Trip to Puerto Varas, Chile

Day 1: Arrival and City Tour

Upon your arrival at Puerto Montt’s El Tepual International Airport, you will be greeted by our representative who will transfer you to your hotel in Puerto Varas. You will have the rest of the day to rest, refresh and take in the stunning scenery of the town. Later in the afternoon, we recommend you explore the city with a guided city tour. Walk around the town, visit the German post office, the German church, the Philippi Park, and the Lighthouse at the front of Puerto Varas Beach.

Day 2: Tour of Llanquihue Lake

Today you take a tour of the Llanquihue Lake, which is surrounded by charming towns such as Frutillar and Puerto Octay. The tour includes the Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park, the Saltos de Petrohué (waterfalls), and the beautiful Todos los Santos Lake (All Saints Lake), known for its emerald green waters. You will return back to Puerto Varas in the evening.

Day 3: Osorno Volcano & Petrohué Waterfalls Hike

Today you will have the chance to explore the Osorno Volcano and the Petrohué Waterfalls in the Vicente Perez Rosales National Park. You will start by driving up the Osorno Volcano, admiring the stunning landscape of the lakes and forest around it. Once at the top, you will have time to take pictures, take a short walk and enjoy the views. Next, you’ll hike to the Petrohué Waterfalls. The hike offers views of the volcano and turquoise colored waterfalls. The hike is an easy one that lasts roughly 90 minutes without counting the stops to admire the stunning surroundings.

Day 4: Chiloé Island Tour

Today you will take a full-day guided excursion to the Chiloé Island, one of the most iconic and traditional locations in the region. This tour includes visiting ancient Jesuit churches, fishing coves, wooden houses on stilts, and wandering through the old streets of the UNESCO World Heritage City of Castro. You will also have the chance to visit the palafitos (houses on stilts) and spot some of the wonderful marine wildlife.

Day 5: Shopping and Free Time

Take today to shop, relax in cafes, and visit more of Puerto Varas. We recommend strolling around the city’s markets and craft shops to pick up some souvenirs. In the evening, take a walk along the lake and enjoy the beautiful surrounding landscapes.

Day 6: Tour of Puerto Montt

Today we’ll take a guided city tour of Puerto Montt, the capital of the Lake District. We will visit the Angelmó Market, one of the most traditional places in the city to buy seafood, pottery, and souvenirs, and you will have time to explore the museum, and the nearby town of Pelluco and Chinquihue. In the evening, return to Puerto Varas for your last evening in the Lake District.

Day 7: Departure

Breakfast at the hotel, then a private transfer to the airport for your flight out.
