Day 1: Arrival in San Pedro de Atacama
Welcome to San Pedro de Atacama! On your first day, you will arrive at Calama Airport, where you will be picked up by a private transfer that will take you to your hotel in San Pedro de Atacama. Spend some time settling into your hotel and exploring the town on foot. You’ll find plenty of souvenir shops and boutiques offering handmade crafts and textiles, so take your time and enjoy the local shopping scene. In the evening, head out to a local restaurant to taste some of the delicious Chilean cuisine. Don’t forget to try the famous Chilean empanadas!
Day 2: Atacama Salt Flat Tour
On your second day, you will explore the stunning Atacama Salt Flat, which is located 50 kilometers south of San Pedro de Atacama. This tour includes a visit to the stunning Chaxa Lagoon, which is home to hundreds of flamingos, as well as the Miscanti and Miñiques highland lagoons, which offer some of the most impressive views in the region. Don’t forget your camera! The tour ends with a visit to the quaint village of Toconao, which is famous for its stunning church and beautiful handicrafts.
Day 3: Tatio Geysers Tour
Get ready for a very early start to go on a tour to the Tatio Geysers. You will depart from your hotel before dawn (around 4 am), so that you can be at the geysers at sunrise. The Tatio Geysers are located 90 kilometers from San Pedro de Atacama and are an impressive sight to behold. After a few hours exploring the geysers, you’ll enjoy breakfast with a spectacular view before heading back to your hotel.
Day 4: Free day to explore
On day 4, you have a free day to explore San Pedro de Atacama at your own pace. Take a break from the tours and indulge yourself in the activities that interest you the most. You can go on horseback riding, mountain biking, or book a massage or sauna at your hotel.
Day 5: Moon Valley Tour
Today, you will experience one of the most beautiful and surreal landscapes that San Pedro de Atacama has to offer: the Moon Valley. This experience includes a visit to the famous Death Valley and a walk through the Valley of the Moon, where you’ll see stunning natural wonders like caves, canyons, and rock formations. The tour ends with a magical sunset view in the middle of the desert.
Day 6: Atacama Desert Tour
On day 6, you will explore the fascinating Atacama Desert. The tour includes a visit to the Salar de Atacama, which is an enormous salt flat located near San Pedro de Atacama. You will also be taken to some amazing natural wonders like the rainbow-colored rocks of the Rainbow Valley and the imposing rock formations of the Atacama Desert. You’ll finish the tour with a visit to the hot springs in Puritama, where you can soak in the naturally heated pools and relax after a long day.
Day 7: Departure day
It’s your last day in San Pedro de Atacama. You can spend this final day sightseeing, shopping or relaxing by the pool at your hotel. After some final exploration, you’ll be picked up by a private transfer at your hotel and taken back to the Calama Airport to catch your flight back home with unforgettable memories of your trip to Chile!
