Trip to Shanghai, China

Day 1: Arrival and Acclimatization

Upon arriving in Shanghai, you will be able to acclimatize to the environment briefly before having a chance to discover some of the local historic and cultural sites. The first stop is The Bund, which is located along the scenic waterfront and offers great views of the city’s skyline from across the Huangpu River. You can then head over to the Yu Garden, which is among the most lovely and well-known Chinese style gardens in Jiangnan (south of the Yangtze River). The city’s traditional atmosphere and charm are meticulously preserved in the Yu Garden.

Day 2: Exploring Shanghai City

On your first full day in Shanghai, you will be able to explore the City’s fascinating cultural and historic treasures. You will start the day by visiting Jin Mao Tower, which is one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks. After having some lunch, you will be able to learn about the city’s modern history at the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center where you will get to see displays of maps, photographs, and models from the planning of Shanghai’s city center to its suburban areas. Before wrapping up the day, take some time to explore Nanjing Road, a bustling commercial district for shopping in Shanghai.

Day 3: Visiting the Landmarks

Begin Day 3 by exploring the Shanghai World Financial Center for a stunning view of the Pudong and Puxi New Areas. After that, venture over to the Shanghai Tower to discover another stunning view of the city from Shanghai’s futuristic skyline. Next, you will head to People’s Square to explore the Shanghai Museum where you will get to see traditional items from ancient China dating back over 5,000 years. Finish off the day by taking a peaceful stroll around Fuxing Park.

Day 4: Day Trip to Suzhou

On day four, take a day trip to the stunning city of Suzhou, which is frequently referred to as the “Venice of the East.” Suzhou is well-known for its many picturesque gardens, which are regarded as being among China’s best. First stop will be the Lingering Garden, which is one of Suzhou’s finest gardens, with some of the most splendid stone carvings in all of China. Later, proceed to the Humble Administrator’s Garden, one of Suzhou’s most impressive gardens that is also a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Day 5: Chinese Food Culture

One of the most important parts of visiting China is trying out its local cuisine. Spend day five exploring Shanghai’s food culture by taking a guided food tour to some of the local places the locals go. After lunch you get to learn how to make some Chinese food yourself during our cooking class experience.

Day 6: Zhujiajiao Canal Town

In the morning on day six, you will visit Zhujiajiao, an ancient water town that dates back to the Ming and Qing Dynasties. This ancient town is approximately 50 kilometres west of Shanghai in the Qingpu District. Your guide will take you through the town’s streets and narrow, winding canals, and you’ll enjoy the picturesque views of the city. Spend the afternoon shopping at the local markets.

Day 7: Departure

On your last day, take your time and savor the local food, snacks, and some shopping before being transferred to the airport for your flight home.
