Trip to Xi’an, China

Day 1: Arrival and Night Markets

Welcome to Xi’an! From the airport or train station, we’ll transfer to our hotel and check-in. After settling in, we will head out to explore the lively Xi’an night markets. One of the best places to do this is in the Muslim Quarter, where you can feast on delicious street food like Chinese-style burgers, spicy kebabs, and sweet rice cakes. The sights, sounds, and smells of the market are an unforgettable way to immerse yourself in local life.

Day 2: Terracotta Warriors and City Wall

Today we’ll explore Xi’an’s most famous attraction, the Terracotta Warriors. These life-size sculptures were created more than 2,200 years ago to protect the tomb of Emperor Qin Shi Huang, and were only discovered by accident in 1974. You’ll have a chance to marvel at the sheer scale and detail of the warriors, horses, and chariots that have been meticulously restored. Afterwards, we’ll head back to the city to visit Xi’an’s impressive ancient city wall, which dates back to the Ming Dynasty. You can bike or walk around the city wall and take in some amazing views of the city.

Day 3: Shaanxi History Museum and Big Wild Goose Pagoda

We’ll start the day at the Shaanxi History Museum, which is a great place to learn about Shaanxi’s rich and diverse history. The museum houses a collection of over 370,000 items, including pottery, bronzes, and textiles from the Neolithic period to the Qing Dynasty. After the museum, we’ll head to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, which is one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. This 64-meter-tall pagoda was built in the Tang Dynasty and served as a Buddhist pilgrimage site. You can climb to the top for a panoramic view of the city.

Day 4: Huashan Mountain Hiking

Today we’ll take a day trip to Huashan Mountain, one of China’s five sacred mountains. Huashan Mountain is famous for its steep cliffs, narrow trails, and stunning natural scenery. We’ll take the cable car up to the North Peak and then hike along the trail to the East Peak, where we can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. It’s a challenging hike but well worth it for the breathtaking vistas.

Day 5: Tang Paradise and Fountain Show

We’ll start the day by visiting Tang Paradise, which is basically a theme park dedicated to Tang Dynasty culture. The park is huge and features attractions like a massive garden with themed sections, a lake with paddle boats, and a traditional market street. In the evening, we’ll head back to see the spectacular fountain show in the center of the park. The show is called “Song of Everlasting Sorrow” and combines water, lights, and music to tell a beautiful love story.

Day 6: Hanyangling Mausoleum and Night Food Tour

Today we’ll visit Hanyangling Mausoleum, which is the tomb of Emperor Jingdi and his consort Empress Wang. The mausoleum is famous for its intricate stone carvings, and the burial pits contain thousands of terracotta figures of servants, animals, and buildings, which gives a glimpse into the life of the wealthy at the time. After the mausoleum, we’ll head back to Xi’an to experience the food scene and visit the night market again.

Day 7: Departure

After breakfast, we’ll check-out of the hotel and transfer to the airport or train station for your departure.
