Trip to Bogotá, Colombia
Day 1: Arrival
Upon arrival at El Dorado International Airport, you’ll be transferred to your hotel in the city center. After checking in, you can spend the rest of the day exploring the local area, visiting popular attractions such as the Gold Museum, the Cathedral of Bogotá, and the National Museum of Colombia. For dinner, head to La Candelaria, the historic district where you’ll find plenty of restaurants serving traditional Colombian cuisine.
Day 2: Montserrate and La Candelaria
Start your second day with a visit to Montserrate, a mountain that dominates the Bogotá skyline, which can be reached by cable car or funicular. Once at the top, you’ll be treated to panoramic views of the city below. After descending, explore the colonial district of La Candelaria, and discover the Bolivar Square, home to the impressive neoclassical Capitolio Nacional, and the impressive Botero Museum, showcasing the artwork of Fernando Botero.
Day 3: Coffee Tour and Zipaquirá Salt Cathedral
On your third day, take a coffee tour to learn about the production of coffee in the area, and the bean-to-cup process. After, head to the town of Zipaquirá to visit the famous Salt Cathedral, an underground Catholic temple built within the tunnels of a salt mine. The temple features several chapels, a main altar, and a crucifix carved into the salt rock.
Day 4: Villa de Leyva and Ráquira
Take a day trip to the charming town of Villa de Leyva, a colonial-era village topped with red-tiled roofs, whose immaculately preserved cobblestone streets are lined with charming whitewashed houses. There, visit the town’s main square, Plaza Mayor, and check out the churches and museums nearby. Continue on to Ráquira, a nearby town famous for its beautiful pottery. Browse the shops and workshops selling ceramic wares and admire the colorful streets.
Day 5: Paloquemao Market and Usaquén Neighborhood
Start your day with a visit to the Paloquemao Market, a produce market that has been operating for over 50 years. Here you can browse the stalls, buy fresh fruit and vegetables, and enjoy a cup of freshly brewed Colombian coffee. In the afternoon visit the Usaquén neighborhood, a upscale area with boutiques and restaurants. Here you can also visit the Santa Barbara Church, a beautiful landmark that stands out in Usaquén.
Day 6: Street Art and Graffiti Tour and Nightlife
Take a street art and graffiti tour today, and learn about the local street art scene. Bogotá is known for its impressive murals and vibrant graffiti, and this tour will give you an insight into the artists and their inspiration. In the evening, head to the Zona Rosa neighborhood, where you’ll find a variety of trendy bars and nightclubs.
Day 7: Cooking Class and Departure
On your final day, take a cooking class and learn how to make traditional Colombian cuisine, such as empanadas and arepas. Afterward, you will be transferred to the airport for your departure flight.
