Trip to Santa Marta, Colombia
Greetings! Welcome to beautiful Santa Marta, located on the northern coast of Colombia, this city is a wonderful mix of history and nature. During your 7-day trip, you will experience some of the most beautiful beaches in Colombia, as well as the Sierra Nevada mountain range.
Day 1: Arrival to Santa Marta
Welcome to Santa Marta! Once you arrive to the airport, we will transfer you to your hotel so you can relax and unwind after your flight. Depending on your energy level, you can explore the historic center of Santa Marta, with its small museums, colonial architecture, and beautiful churches. If you are interested in shopping, you can also explore the local market, where you can find fresh fruits, vegetables, and crafts from the region.
Day 2: Tayrona National Park
Today we will begin our adventure with one of the most beautiful places in the world, Tayrona National Park. After breakfast, we will transfer you to the park entrance where you will begin your hike to Cabo San Juan beach. You will walk approximately 6 km through a beautiful jungle trail to arrive at the beach. Once you arrive, you can relax in the sun, take a swim, and enjoy some fresh seafood. After a day of exploring, we will transfer you back to your hotel.
Day 3: Ciudad Perdida Trek
Today will be a very active day as you will embark on a two-day trek to Ciudad Perdida, or “The Lost City”. You will be picked up from your hotel very early in the morning and we will transfer you to the starting point of the trek. After a thorough briefing from your experienced guide, you will be on your way to the Lost City. You will be walking through dense jungle up and down steep hills and crossing rivers as you approach the ancient ruins. This experience is truly one of the most exciting and rewarding experiences a traveler could ask for. Upon arriving at the Lost City, you will travel back in time and learn all about the fascinating history of this unique civilization. At night, you will sleep in hammocks and enjoy the beautiful jungle sounds.
Day 4: Ciudad Perdida Trek
You will wake up early to hike toward the hills and watch the beautiful sunrise. You will then have breakfast and begin the hike back to where we started the previous day. This is the hardest part of the trek, so you will need to be in good physical condition. Once we arrive back to the starting point, we will transfer you back to your hotel where you can relax and reflect on your amazing adventure.
Day 5: Beach Day
Today we take a day off to relax and enjoy one of the beautiful beaches that Santa Marta has to offer. You will have a choice between two of the most famous beaches in the area, Rodadero and Taganga. Both beaches provide crystal-clear water, along with a wide variety of seafood restaurants and cafes. This is a perfect day to take a day trip or enjoy a nice swim with a cold drink.
Day 6: Sierra Nevada Coffee Tour
Colombia is known worldwide for producing some of the world’s best coffee, and today we will head into the Sierra Nevada mountains to learn all about how it’s grown, harvested and roasted to perfection. The coffee tour is about three hours long and includes a tasting of some of the most exceptional coffee in the world. Don’t forget to bring your appetite as freshly baked cakes, pastries, and locally grown fruits will be provided.
Day 7: Departure
Today is the end of your adventure. We hope that you enjoyed everything that Santa Marta had to offer. After breakfast, we will transport you to the airport so you can catch your flight back home. Safe travels!
