Day 1: Arrival

Welcome to Rijeka! Start your day with some breakfast at your hotel or any of the many popular cafes that dot the city. Jumpstart your trip with an enjoyable walk around the town, and take in the attractive Mediterranean architecture. Visit the stunning Trsat Castle, which offers breathtaking views of the city and the Adriatic Sea beyond it. End the day by grabbing dinner at one of the many delightful restaurants or bistros in Rijeka.

Day 2: Explore the City and Shop

Begin the day with a tour of the city. Start from the Old Town, where several fascinating museums and art galleries are located. The Natural History Museum offers an overview of the Bosanka region’s flora and fauna, while the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Rijeka has fascinating exhibitions by Croatian and European creators. While you’re shopping, Rijeka’s boutiques and designer stores offer fashionable and various items at reasonable rates.

Day 3: Island Hopping

Take a 45-minute ferry ride to the Island of Krk, one of the most popular destinations in Rijeka. You can continue shop and see stunning architecture and walls of this fantastic town. Try some fresh local cuisine from one of the many restaurants on the island. After consuming the local food, work off the calories on the beach or in activities such as fishing, hiking, or parasailing.

Day 4: Visit the market and parks

Spend the morning at the lively Rijeka Market, where the locals purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, and seafood. The market is revered for its freshness and great taste. Next, proceed to the stunning Botanički Vrt - the city’s botanical garden situated on a hillside overlooking the whole city. In addition to several plant species, you’ll see a delightful waterfall, a small pond, and birds while hiking through the Botanic Garden.

Day 5: Tour of the Mountains

The Slovenian Alps are accessible by day trip, starting right at the border of Croatia. Take a tour of the mountains it serves as a breathtaking escape. You can also go for a hike in nature and enjoy the beautiful scenery and climate, with several paths from which to choose. The Kostel Castle, the Trebević peak, and the town of Opatija are all great options for mountain sights.

Day 6: Visit Kvarner Bay

The Croatian coastline and the azure waters of the Adriatic Sea are a breathtaking sight that should not be missed. Get to the sea and visit Kvarner Bay, where you can go swimming or simply hang out at the shore and get a sun tan. When you’re ready to get back to the mainland, we suggest enjoying lots of seafood, including freshly caught fish and mollusks at any of the lovely restaurants near the shore.

Day 7: Departure

Use your last day to shop for souvenirs for your trip. There are several stores that offer special deals on beautiful items, ranging from crystal to clothing. It’s not uncommon to drive to the airport and take another look at Rijeka, a city unlike any other. Bon Voyage!
