Trip to Paphos, Cyprus
Day 1: Arrival and Relaxation
Upon arrival at the Paphos International Airport, it is advisable to rest for the day after checking-in at your hotel. You can take a refreshing dip in the hotel pool or the beachfront, and enjoy a delicious Mediterranean meal at nearby restaurants. Take the day to explore the hotel facilities, and get some rest so you can be ready to start exploring Paphos in the next few days.
Day 2: Ancient Monuments and Museums
Paphos is home to many ancient monuments and museums that will pique your interest in history. Begin your day by visiting the UNESCO World Heritage site of Kato Paphos Archaeological Park, which features the finest mosaic floors of the four Roman Villas. Head over to the Paphos Archaeological Museum, which is located within the Park and showcases some of the most notable historical findings in the region. End the day with a visit to Tombs of the Kings, a unique ancient cemetery carved out of rock.
Day 3: Beach Day
On the third day, after all the sightseeing and museum visits, it’s time to unwind and sit back at the beach. Head over to the Coral Bay, which is a short drive away from Paphos and is famous for its crystal clear waters and sandy beaches. You can also indulge in some beachside activities like parasailing or water skiing or just spend the day soaking up the sun.
Day 4: Akamas Peninsula and Avakas Gorge
Take a day trip to the Akamas Peninsula and Avakas Gorge, located at the western tip of Cyprus. Akamas Peninsula is a perfect place for nature lovers who enjoy hiking and exploring untouched wildlife. The Avakas Gorge provides stunning views of the limestone walls, which rise up to 30 meters high, and you will also find a variety of plant species and natural water sources along the way.
Day 5: Paphos Castle and Harbour
Spend the day exploring the Paphos Castle and Harbour. The castle is from the Byzantine period, and it has served different roles throughout history, from a prison to a Salt Storehouse. Nowadays, it acts as a cultural landmark and hosts several cultural events and exhibitions. You can also relax and stroll through the Paphos Harbour, which boasts a beautiful view of the Mediterranean sea.
Day 6: Wine Tasting and Shopping
On the penultimate day of your trip, explore Paphos’s wine regions and shopping areas. Head to the Vouni Panayia Winery and taste some of the finest wines in the country, and if the timing is right, you can catch a tour of the winery where wines are fermented and aged in steel vessels. After a day of wine, you can head over to the Kings Avenue mall, which features many high-end boutiques. You will find a variety of shops selling everything from designer brands to gifts and souvenirs.
Day 7: Departure
On the final day, check out of your hotel according to the hotel’s policy, and transfer back to Paphos International Airport for your departure flight. If you have some time to kill before your flight, you can visit some of the souvenir shops in the airport and grab some last-minute gifts.
