Trip to Roseau, Dominica

Day 1: Arrival and City Exploration

Upon arrival at Douglas-Charles Airport, take a taxi to your hotel in Roseau. After checking in, take a walk around the city to get settled in and see some of the local sights. Dominica is known for its lush rainforests, so be sure to check out the beautiful Botanic Gardens, located in the center of Roseau. Take a walk up Morne Bruce, a hill overlooking the city which offers breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea and the town below. At night, head to one of the local bars or restaurants for some delicious Caribbean cuisine and enjoy Dominica’s vibrant nightlife.

Day 2: Hiking and Sightseeing

After a hearty breakfast, take a day trip to the Boiling Lake, located in the Morne Trois Pitons National Park. This volcanic crater lake is one of the largest in the world and is surrounded by lush rainforest, making for a scenic hike with stunning views along the way. Along the trail, make a stop at the Titou Gorge for a refreshing swim in the cool, fresh water as you explore the beautiful waterfall.

Day 3: Beach and Snorkelling

Dominica is home to some of the best beaches in the Caribbean, and today is a perfect day to enjoy them. Take a taxi to the white sand beach at Champagne Reef located just a short drive from Roseau where you can go snorkelling or scuba diving around the volcanic bubbles. After experiencing the amazing underwater world, you can just relax on the beach with a good book, take a stroll or enjoy a refreshing drink at one of the nearby beach-side bars.

Day 4: Whale Watching

Embark on a whale watching experience in the morning where you can see the magnificent humpback whales and learn about the local marine ecosystem from knowledgeable guides. While in the area, you can stop at the pirate’ shipwreck that was used in the filming of the famous film Pirates Of The Caribbean.

Day 5: Cultural Experience

Today continue exploring the island’s history and culture. Visit the Kalinago Territory – home to Dominica’s indigenous Kalinago people and one of the last remaining Carib Indian populations in the Caribbean. It is here you can learn about the fascinating history, culture and traditions of these unique people through various activities such as basket weaving or experiencing their traditional foods.

Day 6: Exploring the Boiling Lake

Venture out for a hiking excursion to the Morningstar Trail. This trail winds through lush rainforest and offers the opportunity to see some amazing panoramic views of the surrounding area. You’ll eventually arrive at Boiling Lake which was created due to a volcano eruption over hundreds of years ago. The water temperature is typically around 200 degrees Fahrenheit which creates the steam the lake is famous for.

Day 7: Departure Day

On your last day in Dominica, take some time to explore the local markets in Roseau where you can buy some souvenirs to take home. Make sure to check out the Saturday morning market, which is an outdoor market that showcases locally produced items such as fruits, vegetables, spices and handiworks. Afterwards, grab a bite to eat at one of the local restaurants and reflect on the good times had in Dominica. Then, head back to your hotel to pack your bags and take a taxi to the Douglas-Charles Airport for your flight back home.
