Trip to Scotts Head, Dominica

Day 1: Arrival and Relaxation

The first day of your trip will involve arriving at Douglas-Charles Airport on Dominica Island. Once you’ve picked up your luggage, you can take a taxi to the small town of Scotts Head, which takes about an hour. Once you arrive, check into your hotel and unwind after your long flight. Take your time to explore the local area around the town and grab a bite to eat at one of the local seafood restaurants. You can also enjoy some of the freshest seafood on the island. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can head down to the beachfront and take a refreshing swim in the crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean Sea.

Day 2: Hiking to Scotts Head

On the second day, you can start with the spectacular view of Scotts Head. You can either snorkel or scuba dive in the bay or start with a hike to the Scotts Head Peninsula, which offers some of the most breathtaking views on the island. Make sure you bring plenty of water and sunscreen since the trail can be quite steep. Once you reach the top, you can take in the panoramic view of the Caribbean Sea.

Day 3: Trafalgar Falls and Boiling Lake

On the third day, you can take a guided tour to the Trafalgar Falls and Boiling Lake, which are located in the UNESCO World Heritage Site Morne Trois Pitons National Park. You will be able to see two waterfalls that shoot out of the rock face into a large pool below, as well as a warm, volcanic lake that bubbles with steam. It is a once-in-a-lifetime experience to watch it in person and to take a swim in the hot mineral springs around the lake.

Day 4: Whale Watching Excursion

On the fourth day, you can take a whale-watching tour and get up close and personal with some of the largest mammals on the planet. Dominica Island is one of the few places in the Caribbean Sea where you can see sperm whales year-round. Additionally, you may see pilot whales, orcas, and dolphins. After the tour, you can head back to Scotts Head and enjoy a relaxing evening.

Day 5: Shopping in Roseau

On the fifth day, you can take a day trip to the capital city of Roseau, which is a great place to shop for souvenirs and experience some of the local culture. You can stroll around the historic city center and visit the Dominica Botanic Gardens, which house a huge collection of tropical flowers and plants. If you enjoy history, you can also visit the Dominica Museum, which offers an in-depth look at the island’s past.

Day 6: Champagne Reef

On the sixth day, you can visit Champagne Reef, which is named after the bubbling hot-spring sulfur vents where the reef is located. You can witness the warm water and bubbles rising from the bottom of the reef, creating a natural jacuzzi. The colorful corals and fish make it a perfect spot for snorkelling. After snorkelled, you can relax on the white sandy beach or grab a drink at a beach bar.

Day 7: Departure

On the last day of your trip, you can take it easy and relax at your hotel before heading back to the airport. Alternatively, you can embark on another adventure before leaving the island.
