Trip to La Romana, Dominican Republic
Day 1: Arrival and Exploration
Upon arrival to La Romana, check-in to the hotel of your choice, such as the Casa de Campo Resort and Villas or the Dreams La Romana Resort and Spa. From there, take some time to explore the surrounding area and soak up the local culture. You can start your trip with a visit to the Altos de Chavón, a beautiful replica of a 16th-century Mediterranean village. This unique architectural gem is home to an art school, amphitheater, and shops selling local crafts. After completing your tour of the village, head to the beautiful Saona Island, known for its crystal-clear waters, white sand beaches, and natural swimming pools. You can also indulge in some of the island’s famous cuisine such as La Bandera or sancocho.
Day 2: Beach Time
On this day, visit the stunning public beach in Bayahibe, just a short taxi ride away from La Romana. You can go on a Catamaran tour of the coast or take a boat ride to Saona Island. Alternatively, simply relax on the beach and soak up the sun while enjoying the warm waters of the Caribbean Sea. Afterwards, you can explore the local markets and shops for souvenirs or take a stroll around town to experience the sights and sounds of the locals.
Day 3: Golf and Culture
Take advantage of some of the top golf courses in the Dominican Republic. The Casa de Campo Resort, or “The Ultimate Golf Experience,” features exceptional golf courses, including Teeth of the Dog and Dye Fore. Once you finish golfing, take a guided tour of the Tabacalera de Garcia cigar factory to learn more about the country’s most famous export.
Day 4: Water Activities
Day 4 is perfect for a day full of water-based activities. Take a dip at the stunning Parque Nacional del Este, which features caves, a mangrove swamp, a coral reef, and several beautiful beaches. You can enjoy activities like scuba diving, snorkeling or simply swim in the crystal clear waters. You may also opt to take a boat tour of the area, especially to the popular Catalina Island.
Day 5: Travel Day
Take a break from activities and use this day to travel and absorb the local culture by exploring the local cafes, or taking a walk in some of the town’s parks. You can also visit the artist’s village if you had not done so on your first day.
Day 6: La Romana Nightlife
On this day, enjoy some of the nightlife in La Romana. You can enjoy dinner and drinks at some of the local bars and clubs, such as La Dolce Vita or the Genesis Night Club. You can even attend a show or a concert at the Altos de Chavón Amphitheater, which hosts performances by some of the biggest names in music.
Day 7: Departure
Unfortunately, it’s time to go home. After checking out of the hotel, you may still have enough time to take some last-minute souvenir shopping or visit any of the local attractions you may have missed before boarding your flight back home.
