Trip to Sosúa, Dominican Republic

Day 1: Arrival and Relaxation

Welcome to Sosúa, Dominican Republic! On your first day, take some time to relax and settle in. You could stroll down Playa Sosúa, a stunning beach with great views of the bay. Take in the local seafood and drinks at any of the many restaurants and bars dotted along its length. If you want a little more tranquility, take a stroll through Cabrete and enjoy the sunset over the surf on the beach.

Day 2: Out to the Countryside Sightseeing

Today, take advantage of Sosúa’s beautiful countryside, and enjoy a full day tour of the countryside and El Choco National Park. This tour will take you through small communities and offer varying views of rivers, mountains, and waterfalls, along with museums and crafts of the indigenous Taino community. Explore the El Choco cave, river, and waterfall for a breathtaking view of the local landscape.

Day 3: Snorkeling and Scuba Diving

Sosúa offers some of the best diving locations in the Caribbean. Day three can be spent exploring the crystal clear waters of Sosua Bay and the nearby reefs. Enjoy two tanks of diving or even a custom private charter for snorkeling, glass-bottom boat tours or even a power catamaran party tour. The reef is home to a variety of marine life including eagle rays, moray eels, trumpet fish, spiny lobster and much more.

Day 4: Zip-lining and Canyoning in Yasica

Day four starts with a leisurely countryside drive, passing through local villages surrounding Mount Isabel de Torres. Our destination is the Yasica River, where we’ll start off with a thrilling Canyoning tour, gapping across lush vegetation, hiking down to the waterfalls and rappelling down the canyon. The tour concludes with zip-line rides across the 2,000 ft gorge overlooking the scenic valley.

Day 5: Go Shopping!

Sosúa has a variety of stores, vendors, and markets for shopping. Whether you’re looking for unique locally produced jewelry, bags, and other souvenirs or just some general shopping, you’ll enjoy exploring all the options. The area is renowned for its very affordable amber and larimar jewelry, the amber being the largest of any in the world, while the larimar is only found in the Dominican Republic.

Day 6: Take a Tour of Puerto Plata

Puerto Plata is an hour from Sosúa, but it’s worth a trip if you want to experience some of the region’s culture and history. We’ll visit the historical Malecon by Barranca River, the historic district and La Isabela, which was the first European settlement in the region. You’ll be fascinated by the old buildings and scenic beauty of the area, and you can shop and dine to your heart’s content.

Day 7: Party at Sosúa Beach

On your last day, why not celebrate with a party at Sosúa Beach? If you want to relax, try one of the many beachside cafes, but if you’re ready to party there are also many lively beach bars. Take a stroll down the beach in search of the one that suits your mood before enjoying a fun night of music, drinks, and dancing. You’ll have a wonderful time soaking up the lively Caribbean atmosphere.
