Trip to Birmingham, England

Day 1: Arrival and Introduction

Arrive in Birmingham and check in at your hotel. Spend the day getting to know the city by taking a stroll around the city centre. Visit the Bullring and Grand Central malls to explore the fantastic shopping opportunities. Birmingham is well known for its lively nightlife so you could also head to Broad Street or Brindley Place in the evening to check out the bars and clubs.

Day 2: Discover Birmingham’s History

Start your day by exploring Birmingham’s history at the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. Spend a few hours admiring the collection which includes artwork, ancient archaeology and many interesting artefacts. Visit the Jewellery Quarter to discover the story behind Birmingham’s famous jewellery trade. In the evening, you could attend a performance at the Birmingham Hippodrome or Repertory Theatre.

Day 3: Experience Birmingham’s Canal Side

Take a stroll along the historic canals that run through Birmingham. It has more miles of canals than Venice and you can explore the city on a boat tour. Head to Brindley Place for lunch where you can find plenty of cafes and restaurants. Visit the National Sea Life Centre to see over 2,000 creatures from turtles to sharks. End the day with a relaxing dinner at one of the many canal-side restaurants.

Day 4: Explore Birmingham’s Parks and Gardens

Spend the morning strolling around Cannon Hill Park, a Victorian park which boasts a boating lake, tennis courts, and miniature golf. Relax with a picnic and enjoy the scenery. In the afternoon, head to the Botanical Gardens, a 15-acre oasis with an array of plants from all over the world. End the day with dinner at the Michelin starred restaurant, Simpson’s, located in leafy Edgbaston.

Day 5: Visit Cadbury World

Take a trip out of central Birmingham to Bournville and visit Cadbury World. The attraction tells the story of chocolate through a series of interactive exhibits. Don’t miss the chance to taste plenty of chocolate treats! Return to the city centre in the evening for dinner at one of the traditional pubs, like The Old Joint Stock, which is housed in a Victorian building with plenty of character.

Day 6: See the Balti Triangle and Digbeth

Visit the famous Balti Triangle to experience authentic Balti cuisine, a curry originating in Birmingham. In the afternoon visit Digbeth, where there is plenty of street art to admire. Explore one of the many independent shops and cafes or visit the Custard Factory, a creative hub for artists and designers, which is located in a former custard factory. End the day by watching a film at the oldest working cinema in the UK, The Electric.

Day 7: Departure

End your trip with a day of leisure, exploring any parts of the city that you may have missed. Or take a day trip out of Birmingham to Stratford upon Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare which is only a short train ride away. In the evening, head back to your hotel and, if you have time, catch one last drink and soak up the atmosphere of the city before your onward journey home.
