Day 1: Arrival and City Tour

Upon arrival at Tampere airport, make your way to the city center and check in to your hotel. Begin your day with a city tour that includes a visit to the Tampereen Teatteri, one of the most famous theaters in the country. From there, head to the Tampere Cathedral, which is known for its impressive frescoes and Gothic architecture. The next stop can be the Pyynikki Observation Tower, where you can get a panoramic view of the city. Cap off the day with some shopping at the Tampere Market Hall, where you can find various food, traditional handicrafts, and souvenirs.

Day 2: Museum Day

Start your day with a visit to the Vapriikki Museum, an interactive museum that explores the city’s history from early 1900s to present day. Here, you can also explore the Finnish hockey hall of fame and Natural History Museum. Another museum that is worth visiting is the Lenin Museum, which provides insights into the life and ideology of the Soviet Union’s founder. In the afternoon, you can visit the Sara Hildén Art Museum, which showcases contemporary art from Finland and around the world.

Day 3: Sauna and a Boat Ride

No trip to Finland is complete without visiting a sauna. Begin the day with a refreshing sauna experience at the Rauhaniemi Sauna. After the sauna, you can take a dip in the frigid lake next to it, which Finns commonly refer to as an “avanto”. With your mind and body refreshed, head to the Tammerkoski rapids and take a relaxing boat ride to explore the Tampere city from a different perspective. In the evening, you can enjoy a few drinks and Finnish cuisine at any of the many restaurants around the city.

Day 4: Tampere Market Square and the Tampere Art Museum

Today is a great day to explore the Tampere Market Square, which is known for its variety of shops, restaurants, and cafes. Be sure to stop by the famous Tampere Market Hall, which has been in operation since 1901 and offers a unique shopping experience. After exploring the Market Square, head to the Tampere Art Museum, which has an impressive collection of modern art. And, if you are still feeling energetic, climb up the Näsinneula Observation Tower, which is the tallest observation tower in the Nordic countries.

Day 5: Pyynikki Ridge Hike

Today is a perfect day for a hike on the Pyynikki Ridge to observe the beautiful foliage of Tampere. The trail passes through the forest, with beautiful views of the city and its surroundings. At the top of the ridge, you can enjoy coffee and local delicacies at the Pyynikki observation café. Additionally, you have the option to rent a bike and bike around lakes Näsijärvi and Pyhäjärvi, which surround the city.

Day 6: Day Trip to Hämeenlinna

Today is a great day for a day trip to Hämeenlinna, a charming town located about an hour away from Tampere. Here, you can visit the Häme Castle, a medieval castle that dates back to the 13th century, which is now a beautiful museum. Other interesting places to visit in Hämeenlinna are the Aulanko Nature Reserve and the Birthplace ofJean Sibelius House.

Day 7: Departure

On your final day in Tampere, take the morning to pack and prepare to check-out of your hotel. If you have time before your flight, consider paying a visit to the Pispalan area, which is famous for its beautiful wooden houses and laid-back vibe. Finally, head to the airport to depart for your next destination.
