Day 1: Arrival and Orientation

Upon arriving in Leipzig, check into your hotel and spend the day getting to know the city. A great way to explore the city is by taking a guided walking tour of the Old Town area. This area is filled with beautiful old buildings, museums, churches and parks. You can also visit the Leipzig Zoo which houses over 800 species of animals. If shopping is your thing, you can check out the various boutique shops in the city’s many shopping districts.

Day 2: Völkerschlachtdenkmal and Leipzig Panometer

Today, you can start by visiting the Völkerschlachtdenkmal – a monument to the Battle of Nations. This is one of the largest and most impressive monuments in Europe, with a height of over 100 meters. Later in the day, visit the Leipzig Panometer, where you will see a large panoramic painting of the city in the early 20th century.

Day 3: Bach Museum and St. Nicholas Church

Spend your third day in Leipzig exploring the life and work of Johann Sebastian Bach at the Bach Museum. The museum is home to a variety of exhibitions, from the composer’s life and work to the history of the Bach family itself. Later in the day, visit the St. Nicholas Church, which played a significant role in the Peaceful Revolution of 1989 that eventually led to the reunification of Germany.

Day 4: Schillerhaus and Spinnerei

Start your day with a visit to the Schillerhaus – the former home of Friedrich Schiller – where you can learn all about the famous German poet and dramatist. In the afternoon, take a tour of the historic Spinnerei district, which is now home to various art galleries, studios and cultural institutes.

Day 5: Battle Monument and Leipzig Botanical Garden

Today, visit the Battle Monument, which commemorates the Battle of the Nations fought against Napoleon in 1813. After gaining a glimpse into the city’s history, relax at the Leipzig Botanical Garden, which is the oldest and one of the largest botanical gardens in Germany. The garden features a diverse range of plants from all over the world.

Day 6: Gohlis Palace and St. Thomas Church

Explore the magnificent Gohlis Palace, which was once the residence of rich merchants and nobles. The building dates back to the early 1700s and features stunning baroque architecture. Later in the day, visit the St. Thomas Church, which is famous for its association with Bach, who served as its Kapellmeister from 1723 until his death in 1750.

Day 7: Markt Square and Nightlife

Spend the day exploring the Markt Square, the city’s main market square that is filled with various food stalls, shops and cafes. You can relax and take a break or shop around for souvenirs. In the evening, experience the vibrant Leipzig nightlife, which is filled with a variety of bars, pubs, and clubs that offer a lively atmosphere and great drinks.
