Day 1: Arrival and City Introduction
Welcome to Munich, the historical and cultural center of Bavaria. After arriving at the airport, check in to your hotel and spend the day exploring this beautiful city. Munich is famous for its Gothic and Renaissance architecture, so take a walking tour to admire these masterpieces. Visit the Marienplatz, the highlight of the city, and watch the famous Glockenspiel show at the town hall tower. The show tells the story of the marriage of Duke Wilhelm V to Renata of Lorraine in 1568. Additionally, take a stroll through the Englischer Garten, a large public park with beer gardens, scenic ponds and gardens, and much more.
Day 2: Munich City Tour
Take a day-long city tour with a guide to see Munich’s famous landmarks and cultural hotspots. Visit the Cathedral of Our Lady to see the famous twin towers and the intricate architecture of Gothic style. Afterwards, head over to the Nymphenburg Palace, a Baroque palace built in the 17th century. The palace is known for its lush gardens and ornate interiors. Other landmarks on the tour include the BMW museum, Viktualienmarkt, and the Deutsches Museum, one of the largest museums of science and technology in the world.
Day 3: Day Trip to Neuschwanstein Castle
Take a day trip to the famous fairytale castle of Neuschwanstein, located outside of Munich in the heart of Bavaria. This castle was inspired by Walt Disney’s Sleeping Beauty Castle and was home to King Ludwig II of Bavaria. Experience a guided tour of the castle and admire the stunning Gothic architecture, elaborate ceilings, and gorgeous views of the surrounding mountains and hills. Afterwards, take a walk around the castle and take in the views of the stunning Alpine scenery.
Day 4: Explore the Art Scene
Munich is famous for its artistic culture, and today you will explore the best of it. Visit the famous Munich Pinakothek, a museum of art and design that houses one of the world’s most important collections of European art. After that, head over to the Lenbachhaus, a museum containing the world’s largest collection of works by the famous “Blue Rider” artists. Check out the artistic gem of Munich’s city center located in a building designed by Herzog and de Meuron, the Brandhorst Museum. It houses a fantastic collection of modern art.
Day 5: Shopping Extravaganza
Spend the day exploring Munich’s famous shopping streets, ranging from boutiques to vintage stores. Visit the Maximilianstraße, one of the most exclusive shopping streets in Germany, for high-end fashion stores including Gucci, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and many more. Make sure to visit the great shopping mall Riem Arcaden which has over 138 stores ranging from fashion to electronics, and entertainment options like local and international dining options, cinema, and many great stores perfect for relaxed shopping.
Day 6: Beer Culture and Night Life
Munich is known for its beer culture, and today is the day to explore it. Begin by visiting the Hofbräuhaus, Munich’s most famous beer hall, to experience traditional German culture and enjoy a stein of beer. The hall has been open since the 16th century, and its atmosphere and food are quintessentially Bavarian. After that, head over to the district of Schwabing, one of Munich’s best nightlife spots. Grab a late dinner at a local restaurant before walking around and experiencing the vibrant nightlife of Munich.
Day 7: Departure
Today, you’ll wrap up your trip and head back to the airport for your flight home. This is your last chance to do some souvenir shopping and pick up any memories of your time in Munich. If you’re looking for a relaxing yet fun last day, stop by the Therme Erding, one of the world’s largest thermal bath complexes, for some relaxation and pampering.
