Trip to Sauters, Grenada

Day 1: Arrival in Sauters

Upon arrival in Sauters, take some time to relax and settle into your accommodation. The village is located in St. Patrick’s parish on the north-western coast of Grenada, and is known for its beautiful landscapes and friendly locals. Wander around the village and admire the lush vegetation and picturesque coastline. Take a stroll to the nearby Sauteurs Bay, a beautiful stretch of golden sand beach that is perfect for swimming and sunbathing. To get a sense of the village’s history, visit the Carib’s Leap monument, located just north of the village. This impressive monument commemorates the Carib Indians who died there in 1651 whilst jumping into the ocean to avoid surrendering to the French.

Day 2: Tour of St. George’s

Begin the day with a scenic drive to the capital, St. George’s. The town is the administrative, cultural, and economic center of Grenada and boasts a rich history. Take a walking tour of the town, visiting sites such as Fort George, which offers stunning views of the harbor and the town below. Continue to the Carenage, the picturesque waterfront full of colorful boats. Sample some local cuisine such as oil-down at one of the many restaurants in the town. In the evening, experience the vibrant nightlife by dancing to live music at one of the local bars.

Day 3: Grand Etang National Park

Today, explore Grand Etang National Park, located in the interior of the island. The park is home to the crater of an extinct volcano, the Grand Etang Lake, and a rich variety of wildlife and vegetation. Hike through lush tropical forests and spot colorful birds such as the Grenada Dove and the Orange-winged Parrot. Visit the Grand Etang Lake, located in the center of the park, and enjoy the serene beauty of the tranquil waters. Stop by the Spice Garden, located within the park, to learn about Grenada’s world-renowned spice industry and sample some of the country’s spice products.

Day 4: Beach Day

Spend the day relaxing on one of Grenada’s stunning white sand beaches. Head to Grand Anse Beach, one of the most popular and picturesque beaches on the island. The beach is lined with palm trees and crystal-clear waters perfect for swimming and snorkeling. Enjoy a seafood lunch at one of the many restaurants located on the beach. In the evening, head back to your accommodation in Sauters, and enjoy a peaceful sunset on the beach.

Day 5: Underwater Sculpture Park

Today, take a snorkeling or scuba-diving excursion to the Underwater Sculpture Park, located off the coast of Grenada. This one-of-a-kind attraction features a variety of human-shaped sculptures submerged in the crystal-clear waters. The sculptures were created by British artist Jason DeCaires Taylor and are now home to a vibrant sea life. On the way back, stop by the Aquarium Restaurant, located on the picturesque Calivigny Island, and enjoy a delicious seafood lunch.

Day 6: River Antoine Rum Distillery

Take a trip to River Antoine Rum Distillery, one of the oldest and most famous rum distilleries in the Caribbean. Learn about the process of creating rum, from harvesting the sugarcane to distillation and ageing. Taste some of the finished products and purchase a bottle or two to take home as a souvenir. Continue the day exploring the local area and soaking in some of the fantastic sights, smells, and sounds of the surrounding countryside.

Day 7: Departure

Take some time to relax and enjoy your final day in Sauters, Grenada. Check out some of the local shops and markets, and purchase some souvenirs such as handmade pottery, jewelry, or spices. Take a final dip in the crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean Sea before packing up and heading back to the airport for your flight home.
