Day 1: Arrival and exploring the city

Upon arriving at Budapest, you can check-in to your hotel and begin to explore the city. You could start by walking around the famous Andrássy Avenue, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is lined with numerous beautiful buildings, boutiques, cafes and restaurants. Next, you could head over to Heroes’ Square, which features impressive statues of the Seven Chieftains of the Magyars and other famous figures from Hungarian history. Later in the day, you could end the day at one of the many thermal baths in the city, which Budapest is famous for. The Széchenyi Thermal Baths is a perfect place to relax after a long day of exploring.

Day 2: Sightseeing and shopping

Begin the day at the famous Buda Castle, which is perched on top of a hill and offers spectacular views of the city. While at the castle, you could also visit the Fisherman’s Bastion, which provides panoramic views of the Danube River and Pest. Later in the day, head to Váci Street, known for its trendy boutiques, ceramics and souvenirs. The street is also home to a number of cafes and restaurants where you could grab a bite to eat.

Day 3: Exploring Jewish Heritage

Start the day at one of the most important synagogues in Europe, the Great Synagogue which dates back to the 1850s. The synagogue is home to a Jewish Museum that will offer insight into the city’s rich Jewish history and the Holocaust. Later, visit the Central Market Hall, which is Budapest’s largest indoor market. Here you will find everything from fresh produce, meats, pastries, souvenirs, and spices. You could also grab lunch at one of the many food stalls and restaurants inside the market.

Day 4: Discovering Romantic Budapest

Begin the day with a stroll along the Pest promenade where you can see some of the most beautiful Danube bridges and the Parliament building. All of these places are breathtakingly beautiful and perfect for relaxation. Later in the day, go up to the St. Stephen’s Basilica’s bell tower for an unforgettable panoramic view of the city. Finally, take a walk along the beautiful Danube River during sunset, which can be one of the most romantic things to do in Budapest.

Day 5: The Beautiful Towns near Budapest

Take a day trip out to the charming town of Szentendre, a small village only 30 minutes away from Budapest which is famous for crafts. Here you will have the chance to see some of Hungary’s traditional art, old houses and you can explore the cute boutiques, galleries, and antique shops. After shopping, you can rest in the town’s many cafes and grab a snack.

Day 6: In The Districts of Budapest

Spend the day exploring some of the different districts in Budapest. Start by heading over to the Castle District, where you will find some of the oldest and most historic buildings in the city. From there, head to the Jewish Quarter, which has its fair share of history, architecture and nightlife. For nightlife, visit the ruin bars which are known for their lively atmosphere and quirky interiors. The most famous one is Szimpla Kert, definitely worth a visit.

Day 7: Final Day of Sightseeing and Reflection

On your final day, you can take a walk along the famous Andrássy Avenue to reflect on your amazing experience in Budapest. If you have not yet visited one of the thermal baths, this is the perfect day to do so. Gellért Thermal Bath, which is located near the famous Gellért Hotel, is also a great location to relax and take in the beauty of Budapest. Finally, try one of Hungary’s national desserts, the chimney cake, while checking off the last few souvenirs from your list.
