Trip to New Delhi, India

Day 1: Arrival and Relaxation

After arriving in New Delhi, India, and checking into your accommodation, take some time to rest and rejuvenate. India can be an overwhelming country to navigate, especially after a long flight. Take it easy and get accustomed to your new surroundings, take a stroll near your hotel, and grab a meal in one of the local restaurants.

Day 2: Old Delhi and Red Fort

The first visit of the day is the stunning Red Fort, an iconic symbol of Delhi’s history. Built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, this fort features elaborate buildings with stunning architecture. A short ride from the fort is Old Delhi, whose narrow alleys are brimming with history and provide a look into the city’s culture and traditions. While in Old Delhi, we highly recommend visiting the Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India where you can witness thousands of people praying at the same time.

Day 3: Chandni Chowk and Shopping

India is famous for its shopping, and for good reason. Visit Chandni Chowk where you can immerse yourself in a bustling marketplace filled with bright and colorful good and endless stalls. It is the perfect place to embrace the city’s vibrant atmosphere and find all the traditional Indian items you need. If you have some extra time, take a stroll through Connaught Place.

Day 4: Akshardham Temple and Qutub Minar

Start your day by exploring Akshardham, a highly spiritual temple, it’s an important place of worship for the people of Delhi. The temple’s complex features statues and intricate carvings that are a joy to discover. Then, head over to the Qutub Minar, an ancient structure that has survived centuries of earthquakes and invasions. As the tallest brick minaret in the world, it is a UNESCO World Heritage site and home to many beautiful gardens and structures.

Day 5: Baha’I House of Worship and Humayun’s Tomb

Today we’ll visit the Baha’I House of worship, a modern architectural masterpiece often called the Lotus Temple or the Taj Mahal of modern India. The temple’s design is made up of white marble petals arranged symmetrically into the shape of a lotus flower. Next, we’ll visit Humayun’s Tomb, which is considered one of the best-preserved Mughal-era tombs in Delhi. It is a stunning red sandstone building with ornate carvings and stunning Persian architecture.

Day 6: Street Food and Nightlife Experience

No trip to Delhi is complete without a food tour, discovering all the Amritsari Kulcha, Chole Bhature, Kachoris and many more beloved dishes of Delhi. We recommend visiting Karim’s for a Malai Tikka and or Paranthe Wali Gali, a street entirely dedicated to flatbreads fried in ghee, tasting everything in sight. After dinner, check out the many bars and clubs for a night out in Delhi.

On your last day in Delhi, breathe in some learning and creativity with a visit to the National Gallery of Modern Art, a museum dedicated to works of art by Indian and international artists alike. Since its reopening in 2009, this museum has been celebrated as one of the finest places to experience contemporary Indian art. Lastly, we recommend either the Craft Museum, a place to experience all things handicrafts of India or the Garden of Five Senses, which is a peaceful garden full of colorful flowers and water features perfect for a light stroll.
