Day 1: Exploring Old Surat
Explore Old Surat, known locally as “Suratkal,” and home to some of the most interesting architecture in India. The castle features beautiful gardens and intricate carvings, while Dutch Gardens showcases a mix of European and Indian styles. Take a stroll through the city’s narrow streets, soaking in the local vibes, and visiting centuries-old temples such as the Ambika Niketan Temple. Experience the art of textile weaving at the Surat Textile Market, which is the largest in India. Here, you can observe master weavers creating intricate fabrics. At night, head to Tapti Riverfront to enjoy the stunning sunset.
Day 2: Dumas Beach
Revitalize after a long day of sightseeing with a visit to the famous Dumas Beach. Day 6: Navsari
Navsari is another town located near Surat that is rich in culture and history. Visit the Parsi Zoroastrian fire temple, which has been built in the Mughal style and has a strict access policy. For visiting, advance permission needs to be taken. The temple is adorned with beautiful paintings, frescoes, and carvings, making it a must-visit spot. Navsari is also famous for its silk weaving industry, and you can visit any of the local stores to pick up some of the finest silk clothes. In the evening head to the Heritage Square in Navsari to take in some live music and dance performances.
Day 7: Shopping Spree in Surat
Shop until you drop in Surat, known as the textile capital of India. Visit the local markets and shops such as the Millennium Textile Market, which is known for its wide variety of fabrics, including silk, cotton, and sari material. Apart from clothes, the market also offers a range of accessories, including bangles, earrings, and necklaces. Visit the Rajwadi Shopping Center and the Vanita Vishram Ground for your daily retail therapy. There are also attractions for history enthusiasts such as the Surat Fort and the Suvali Beach fort. Finish your day and your trip to Surat indulging yourself in the culinary delights offered by Surat such as Locho and the famous Gujarati Thali.
