Day 1: Arrival in Palembang

Upon your arrival in Palembang, we recommend checking into your hotel and resting up before exploring the city. Later in the evening, you can head out to the Musi Riverfront where you can relax, unwind, and admire the impressive Ampera Bridge which outlines the river. You can also take a leisurely stroll along the river, take a dip in the swimming pool, grab a few drinks at one of the many bars or restaurants along the riverfront, or enjoy some local street food.

Day 2: Explore the Kampong Al-Munawar

Today should be spent exploring one of the best attractions in Palembang- Kampong Al-Munawar. This Arabic village is a fascinating place filled with brightly coloured houses. You can spend your day wandering through the streets, enjoying traditional food and drinks, and interacting with the locals. A visit here will give you the chance to learn more about the local culture, food, and history of the region.

Day 3: Visit the Kuto Besak Fortress

Start your day by paying a visit to the Kuto Besak Fortress, located in the heart of Palembang city. This fortress was built in the 18th-century and has since become a symbol of Palembang’s struggle for independence. You can explore the fortress and learn about the history of Palembang, Indonesia’s fight for independence and the fortress’ role in the fight. Later in the evening, you can head to the 12th Ampera Bridge which overlooks the Musi River, grab some delicious food, and enjoy the beautiful views of Palembang at night.

Day 4: Visit the Masjid Agung Palembang

On day 4 of your trip to Palembang, we recommend that you visit the Masjid Agung Palembang, the largest mosque in the city. This mosque was built in 1998 and is a stunning example of modern Islamic architecture. You can spend some time here exploring the mosque and interacting with locals before heading to the nearby Punti Kayu Forests. Here, you can enjoy a quiet picnic, take a leisurely stroll, hike throughthe forest trails, or rent bicycles and explore the vast forest.

Day 5: Shop at the Pasar 16 Ilir Market

Start your day by visiting the Pasar 16 Ilir Market, a bustling market housing numerous stalls selling everything from fresh fruits and vegetables to local souvenirs, and handicrafts. You can spend the day meandering through the market, bargaining with vendors for local products and handmade crafts, and enjoy some of the local food offerings.

Day 6: Visit the Ampere Bridge

On day 6, we recommend visiting the most iconic landmark of Palembang - the Ampere Bridge. The bridge is a unique combination of a cable-stayed and a suspension design and stretches over 1,177 meters across the Musi River. You can explore the bridge by foot, bike, or car and catch the stunning view of the river and the historic city as you cross this iconic bridge.

Day 7: Visit the Kambang Iwak Park

On your final day in Palembang, we recommend that you visit the Kambang Iwak Park which boasts a large lake that looks like a fish. Here, you can relax in the park’s idyllic setting, hire a paddleboat and enjoy a quiet ride on the lake, try some local delicacies and enjoy the magnificent view of the surrounding area. Additionally, you must try the local coffee roasts, which are some of the best in the country!
