Day 1: Arrival
Welcome to Mashhad, Iran! On your arrival day, you can take some time to settle into your hotel and explore the local area. If you’re feeling up to it, head over to the Haram-e-Razavi Mosque, a stunning and historical site in the heart of Mashhad. The mosque has a beautiful architecture and design that is both intricate and awe-inspiring. You can also take the time to visit some of the bazaars and shops that line the surrounding area. The abundance of vibrant colors, picturesque sights, and wonderful flavors of the local Iranian food will definitely tickle your senses.
Day 2: Nishapur Trip
On the second day of your trip, we would recommend that you take a day trip to the nearby city of Nishapur. This ancient city is well-known for its rich cultural and historical significance, dating back to the Seljuk and the Samanid eras. You can visit the Tomb of Omar Khayyam, who was a Persian mathematician, poet, philosopher, and astronomer. This mausoleum reflects the lavish aesthetic of the Seljuk Empire with intricate tile works and mosaics. You can also visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Shadiyakh, which is one of the country’s oldest water mills and has been around for over 1,500 years. The city’s bazaars are full of amazing handmade items, including textiles, jewelry, pottery, and paintings.
Day 3: Mashhad City Tour
The third day of your trip can be spent exploring the city of Mashhad. Start by taking in the gorgeous views of the Koohsangi Park, one of the best places in Mashhad to relax and admire the green nature of the city. You can then move on to the Shrine of Imam Reza, which is considered by many to be Iran’s most important shrine, not to mention the world’s most visited pilgrimage destination. The stunning architecture and attention to detail in this holy site will take your breath away. Finally, end your day with a visit to the Vakil Abad Garden, where you can see many flowers, plants and trees.
Day 4: Quchan Trip
For your fourth day, we’d recommend you take a day trip to the beautiful and historic city of Quchan. This city is located about 140 km northeast of Mashhad and provides visitors with a glimpse into traditional Iranian life. The city’s Quchan Museum is a great place to start, as it displays the city’s rich history and provides an insight into the culture of Quchan. You can also visit the ruins of the Qa’leh Seh or Three Castles, which were built during the Parthian era. Finally, end your day trip with a visit to the Quchan Bazaar, which is a wonderful place to find unique souvenirs, such as copperware, handicrafts, and traditional Iranian clothes.
Day 5: Historical Sites Tour
On the fifth day, you can take a tour of some of the historical sites in Mashhad. Start by visiting Khorasan Great Museum, where you can learn about the history of the region and explore the many exhibits that have been curated to showcase its rich heritage. After that, visit the Torghabeh and Shandiz historical houses, which are both well-preserved examples of traditional Iranian architecture. Finally, visit the tomb of Ferdowsi, the great Persian poet who lived during the 9th and 10th centuries.
Day 6: Shopping Day
On day 6, you can spend your time shopping around one of Mashhad’s many bazaars. Head over to the Bazaar-e-Raza, which is located right next to the Haram-e-Razavi Mosque. This bazaar is known for its traditional Persian crafts, clothing, and spices. You can also check out the Shah Goli Bazaar, where artisans sell everything from handmade jewelry to beautiful Persian carpets. In the evening, head over to the Mashhad Mall, which is one of the largest shopping centers in the city and also has a cinema.
Day 7: Farewell
On your final day, you can take some time to relax and reflect on all the wonderful experiences you’ve had over the past week in Mashhad. Depending on your time of departure, you can visit a traditional Iranian café and try some baklava or shirini, sugary confections that are popular in the region. Finally, say goodbye to Mashhad and Iran, and head back to the airport for your flight home, filled with wonderful memories of your trip.
