Trip to Limerick, Ireland
Day 1: Arrival and Afternoon Sightseeing
On your arrival in Limerick, you can either check in at your hotel and rest or get right into exploring. For the afternoon, the perfect way to start your sightseeing in Limerick is with a visit to the historical King John’s Castle. The castle is located in the heart of the city, on King’s Island, and gives visitors a vivid insight into Limerick’s medieval past. You can also take a walk along the street of Limerick’s Georgian quarter, Pery Square, and view the lovely Georgian buildings along the way.
Day 2: Tourist Trail and Shopping
Today, begin your day with a stroll around the city starting with the beautiful St. Mary’s Cathedral. This Cathedral, built between 1168 and 1200, is one of the most significant medieval sites in the country. From here, proceed down O’Connell Street where you can find the statue of one of Limerick’s most famous sons, Richard Harris. For more shopping, check out the boutiques and shopfronts of the pedestrian-only shopping area of Cruises Street and the adjoining Bedford Row.
Day 3: Castles and Gardens
Start your day with a visit to Adare Manor, a grand neo-gothic castle surrounded by picturesque parkland and gardens. The castle has had an exciting history, including time as a private home, a hunting lodge, and a five-star luxury hotel. After your visit head to the nearby Dunraven Gardens, it was awarded 3rd place in a garden trail in Ireland in 2019. Open every day and a 20-minute walk from the town of Adare.
Day 4: Burren and Cliffs of Moher
Take a full-day trip to the Burren, offering spectacular views across the barren landscape towards the Aran Islands. Then head to the Cliffs of Moher, which is about an hour’s drive from the Burren. The Cliffs of Moher are one of Ireland’s top attractions, offering awe-inspiring views of the Atlantic Ocean and the surrounding shoreline.
Day 5: Shanagolden and Nightlife
Today, you can take a day trip to the heritage village of Shanagolden and explore the Shannon Estuary on a boating tour where, weather permitting, you might even see dolphins. Return to Limerick for a night out and explore some of the traditional Irish bars and music venues that the city offers.
Day 6: Walking Tour and Museums
Take a guided walking tour to discover the hidden stories of Limerick’s historic streets and buildings. Later, visit museums and galleries such as The Hunt Museum or the Limerick City Gallery of Art and learn more about the culture and art of Ireland.
Day 7: Departure
On your final day, you can safely store your luggage at the hotel before checking out. Return for last-minute shopping, a brisk walk, or one more pint at a local pub before your flight home.
