Trip to Nairobi, Kenya

Day 1: Arrival

Welcome to Nairobi! On your first day, you’ll arrive at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport where you will be greeted by your personal driver who will take you to your accommodation in the city. You’ll have the rest of the day to relax and recover from your flight. If you feel up to it, you could explore the nearby markets and street food stalls to get a taste of Nairobi’s vibrant culture before calling it a night.

Day 2: City Tour

Today you will embark on a walking tour of the city of Nairobi. You will visit the city’s landmarks such as the Parliament Building, City Hall, Kenyatta International Convention Center, and even the Nairobi National Archives. The tour will present Nairobi’s colonial history and positive socioeconomic and cultural changes that have transformed it into the thriving African hub it is today. Later on in the day, you can visit the Giraffe Centre, where you can feed giraffes and learn about their conservation before returning to your accommodation.

Day 3: Nairobi National Park

Today you’ll embark on a full-day game drive at Nairobi National Park. Being next to the city, this park is one of the only game reserves that allow visitors to capture views of endangered species, such as the Black Rhino, while still being home to elephants, lions and giraffes among others. The park also offers a view and back drop of the city skyline with picnic areas and walking trails. After this memorable adventure, you will return to your accommodation for dinner rest.

Day 4: Bomas of Kenya

Today, we’ll visit Bomas of Kenya, an open-air museum that showcases Kenya’s diverse cultures and ethnic groups. At the Bomas of Kenya, you will experience traditional dances, music, and folklore from the different tribes of Kenya, as well as see traditional thatched huts and indigenous artwork. In the afternoon, we’ll visit the Karen Blixen Museum, which used to be Karen’s home during her life in Kenya. You will learn about the true story of this famous author through the museum exhibits. Later in the evening, you can go out and experience Nairobi’s nightlife while sampling the vibrant and colorful local food.

Day 5: Lake Naivasha and Crescent Island

Today you will take an amazing day trip to lake Naivasha and crescent island. Lake Naivasha is a crystal clear freshwater lake surrounded by grassy plains, rocky cliffs, and acacia forests. We will take a boat ride on the lake and also hike on Crescent Island, a sanctuary for birds and wildlife including zebras, giraffes, and waterbucks among others. Later on in the day we will have lunch at one of the beautiful restaurants overlooking the lake before returning to the city.

Day 6: Masai Mara National Park

Today you’ll embark on a full-day tour of Masai Mara National Park, which is regarded as one of the best game reserves in Africa due to its unspoiled view of wildlife in their natural habitat. Here you will have the chance to see a variety of wildlife such as the Big 5 (Lions, Elephants, Leopards, Buffalos and rhinos) and other animals such as warthogs, zebras, hyenas among others. After the game drive, you’ll stop over for lunch before heading to a traditional Masai Mara village, where you will learn about the culture of the Maasai and interact with the villagers.

Day 7: Departure

Today is your last day in Nairobi, and depending on the timing of your flight, you can do some last-minute shopping for souvenirs to take back home or you could visit the Nairobi City Market where you can buy handmade crafts and other local products. Later your driver will take you back to the airport for your flight home, feeling enriched and contented and a new appreciation of how Africa can be both modern, yet authentic.
