Tsavo National Park in Kenya is home to incredible wildlife and breathtaking landscapes, including the iconic red elephants, expansive savannahs, and the magnificent lava flows of the Chyulu Hills.

Trip to Tsavo National Park, Kenya

Day 1: Arrival in Tsavo National Park

Upon arrival at the airport, you will be picked up by your private driver and taken to your lodge located within the park. On this day, you can relax and settle in, enjoy the lodge’s amenities such as a pool or spa, or take a short nature walk to get accustomed to your new surroundings.

Day 2: Tsavo East National Park Game Drive

Today, you will embark on a full day game drive in Kenya’s largest national park, Tsavo East. Home to the famous “Red Elephants” of Tsavo, the park boasts a diverse array of wildlife such as the African Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo), giraffes, zebras, crocodiles, and hippopotamus. Along the way, you will visit places like Aruba Dam and stop at popular viewpoints where you can get panoramic views of the park.

Day 3: Tsavo West National Park Game Drive

After breakfast, you will embark on another game drive but this time, in Tsavo West National Park which is also known for its vast wilderness and diverse wildlife. You will explore the Park’s popular landmarks such as Mzima Springs, Shetani Lava Flow, and Chaimu Crater. Mzima Springs is a natural springs shooting crystal-clear water and it’s also home to dainty hippos and aquatic birds that can be seen from well-built aqua-yoga platforms. On your way back to your lodge, you can stop and visit the local Maasai villages located near the park and learn about their lifestyle and culture.

Day 4: Relaxation Day

On this day, you can relax and enjoy the luxurious amenities of your lodge or indulge in some spa treatments. You have the option of taking a hot air balloon or helicopter ride over parts of the park for an aerial view of the park. Alternatively, you can head out to the nearby fishing villages and have a relaxing day by the beach.

Day 5: Visit the Mzima Springs at Tsavo West National Park

You will return to Tsavo West National Park to visit the Mzima Springs. The Mzima Springs are a network of underground streams that produce some 200 million liters of fresh water per day, providing an oasis for a variety of wildlife. You will also visit the Chyulu Hills, a volcanic mountain range in the park, and go on a nature walk to explore. At the end of this trip, you will return to the lodge for dinner and relaxation.

Day 6: Explore the Grogan Castle

Built in the 1940s by Colonel Grogan, the Grogan Castle has a rich history which you will learn about on a tour of the castle taking approximately 1 1/2 hours long. After the tour, you will go to ‘Kluso’, a cafe located within the castle and have lunch which will be a picnic style food menu of cheese, olives, bread, fruit, and fresh juices.

Day 7: Departure Day

Sadly, all good things must come to an end and this marks the end of your 7 days tour in Tsavo National Park, Kenya. On this day, you will say goodbye to your lodge and private driver who will transport you back to the airport for your flight back home or on to your next destination.
