Day 1: Arrival and Leisure Day

Day 2: Explore Gjilan city
Kick off your first full day in Gjilan by visiting Sultan Mehmet Fatih Mosque at the city center. This 17th-century mosque is a masterpiece of Ottoman-era architecture, with intricate designs and towering minarets. Explore the historic castle known as Kalaja e Gjilanit, which was built over 500 years ago. For those looking for some shopping opportunities, head over to the Gjilan Bazaar, where you’ll find everything from traditional clothing to exquisite handicrafts.
Day 3: Prizren City Tour
On your third day, go on a full-day excursion to Prizren, a historic city located just one hour away from Gjilan. Prizren is one of Kosovo’s most charming cities, boasting ancient architecture, cobblestone streets, and a beautiful river view. Visit the Fortress and the Museum of the League of Prizren, which showcases the city’s role in the declaration of independence from the Ottoman Empire. Spend some time walking on the stone bridge or kayaking in the river Lumbardhi.
Day 4: Gadime Cave & Gračanica Monastery
Spend your fourth day exploring Kosovo’s nature and history. Begin with a visit to the Gadime Cave and Natural Park, also known as Marble Cave. The cave is 30 million years old and is one of the most significant natural sites in Kosovo. The tour lasts around an hour, and the cave’s beautiful formations are illuminated to stunning effect. Next, head over to Gračanica Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its 14th-century Byzantine-style architecture and religious frescoes.
Day 5: Rugova Canyon
On day five, you’ll go on an excursion to Rugova Canyon. Located in the west of Kosovo, it offers some of the most spectacular natural views in the country. Go on a breathtaking hike through the trail, which is surrounded by cliffs rising as high as 400 meters. If you’re an adrenaline junkie, try zip-lining or rock climbing. Experience local hospitality by stopping at a traditional household where you will be served homemade pies and honey.
Day 6: Relaxation or Extra Activity
On your final full day in Gjilan, you can either choose to relax and enjoy the local surroundings. Take a dip in the hotel’s pool, or head on over to a local hammam (Turkish bath) for some pampering session. Alternatively, you can choose to add an extra activity such as a visit to Brezovica Ski Resort for skiing or snowboarding.
