Trip to Klaipėda, Lithuania
Day 1: Arrival and Relaxation
Upon your arrival in Klaipėda, check in at your hotel and spend the rest of the day relaxing or taking a leisurely stroll around the Old Town. Klaipėda’s Old Town is the oldest part of the city and offers an interesting blend of German, Scandinavian and Lithuanian architecture. You can take in the views of the old buildings and explore the small shops and cafés situated in the small alleys.
Day 2: Explore Klaipėda
After breakfast, explore Klaipėda’s attractions, including the Memel Castle and The Theatre Square. The Castle has had a turbulent history and has been remodeled many times. Today it houses an impressive museum with a variety of exhibitions. The Theatre Square, on the other hand, is known for its numerous street performances, concerts, and festivals. Enjoy a dinner or drink at one of the many restaurants nearby.
Day 3: Curonian Spit
Take a day trip to the Curonian Spit, a long, thin strip of land that separates the Curonian Lagoon from the Baltic Sea. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is well known for its natural beauty and its sand dunes that can reach up to 60 meters in height. There are plenty of activities available here including sandboarding, cycling, hiking, fishing and swimming.
Day 4: Castle Valley and the Amber Museum
Visit the Castle Valley and explore the historic castle ruins scattered across the valley area, and take in the picturesque surroundings. Afterward, head to the Amber Museum. The museum houses an impressive collection of amber artifacts and explains the history of amber in Lithuania and the world.
Day 5: Palanga
Take a day trip to the seaside resort town of Palanga. Palanga is a popular vacation spot for Lithuanians, and the town boasts several beautiful beaches as well as a newly built pier. You can also visit Palanga Botanic Park and relax amongst the blooming trees and flowers.
Day 6: Shopping and Nightlife
Spend the day shopping in Klaipėda’s many boutiques and specialty shops. Don’t forget to visit the Central Market which offers a wide variety of goods, including a fresh fish market, handmade crafts and local produce. At night, explore the vivid nightlife in the city, featuring many bars and pubs as well as the Klaipėda Drama Theatre.
Day 7: Departure
After breakfast, depart for the airport or your next destination.
