Trip to Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg
Day 1: Arrival and Explore the City
Upon arrival at the airport, you will be transferred to your hotel in Esch-sur-Alzette. Use the first day to get your bearings and explore the city. One place you would love to visit is the Place de la Resistance, which is located in the heart of the city. This famous square is home to several historic buildings including the old town hall and the St. Joseph Church.
Day 2: Visit the Rockhal
Today, you will visit the Rockhal, one of the most iconic venues in Esch-sur-Alzette. This concert center is the largest indoor music venue in Luxembourg and is known for hosting some of the biggest artists in the world. If you are lucky enough, you will attend a live performance on the day of your visit. If not, you can check out the Rockhal’s Museum, which houses photographs and memorabilia from some of the most memorable shows to have taken place there.
Day 3: Tour the National Mining Museum
On day three, you will visit the National Mining Museum. This museum is situated in the south of the country in the former industrial heartland of Luxembourg. The National Mining Museum opened its doors in 1986 and offers visitors a chance to experience what life was like in the mines. You will learn about the history of mining in the area and the evolution of the industry. The museum has interactive exhibits and audio-visual displays that take you back in time.
Day 4: Explore Belval
Today you will spend the day exploring Belval. This modern neighbourhood in Esch-sur-Alzette was once home to a major steel mill, but it has now been transformed into a university campus with state-of-the-art facilities, a cinema, restaurants and shops. Be sure to visit the Belval Plaza shopping mall, which boasts over 100 shops and boutiques.
Day 5: Walk in the Nature Park of the Terres Rouges
On this day, you will take a long walk in the Nature Park of the Terres Rouges (Red Lands). This park is located on the site of an old iron mine and offers visitors a chance to wander through beautiful woods, fields and meadows. You can also see the remains of some of the old mining structures along the way. The park is home to a range of flora and fauna and is best enjoyed on a nice sunny day.
Day 6: Visit the Adolphe Bridge
Today, you will visit the Adolphe Bridge, one of the most iconic landmarks in the city. This bridge spans the Pétrusse valley and was considered a technological feat when it was built in 1903. The Adolphe Bridge is considered one of the most beautiful bridges in the world and is a popular spot for tourists to take photos. You can cross the bridge on foot while enjoying the stunning views of the surrounding area.
Day 7: Departure
Today marks the end of your 7-day trip to Esch-sur-Alzette. After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your homebound flight.
