Day 1: Arrival and Exploration of Ipoh City
Upon arrival in Ipoh, Malaysia, you can check in at your hotel and spend the day exploring the charming city. Start your day with a visit to the Perak Tong Cave Temple, located about 6 km north of the city, which boasts a magnificent view of Ipoh. Next, head to the famous Concubine Lane, a narrow alley that is lined with shops selling souvenirs and local crafts. Here, you can grab a quick bite at one of the many cafes and restaurants that dot the street.
In the evening, you could visit the night markets, such as the Pasar Malam Taman SPPK or the Gerbang Malam, where you can sample local delicacies and shop for souvenirs. End your day with a relaxing food tour, where you can try famous Ipoh specialties like Nasi Ganja, a rice dish with flavorful curry chicken, and Ipoh White Coffee, a popular coffee in the region.
Day 2: Lost World of Tambun Theme Park
On your second day, head out to the Lost World of Tambun Theme Park, an adventure park that features a wide range of activities such as a water park, amusement park, and petting zoo. The park also has a hot springs and spa where you can relax and unwind while enjoying the stunning natural views and landscapes. Inside, you can explore the Tiger Valley, Hippo Kingdom and Tiger Valley, natural hot springs, aviary section and many other attractions that it has to offer.
Day 3: Gua Tempurung and the Kellie’s Castle
Day 3 of your trip can consist of a visit to Gua Tempurung, one of the largest and most impressive limestone cave systems in Peninsular Malaysia. During your visit, you can check out artifacts and formations that date back millions of years, as well as enjoy a range of activities such as rock climbing, spelunking and river rafting. After this you can head to Kellie’s Castle, a ruined mansion that was meant to be a gift for a Scottish planter’s wife. Even though it was never completed, its vintage charm and unique architectural style is still worth a visit.
Day 4: Ipoh Kopitiam Food Tour and Ipoh Street Art
On Day 4, get ready for another food tour - the Ipoh Kopitiam Food Tour. You’ll visit various coffee shops around the city that serve special brews of Malaysian coffee, along with popular dishes such as Hainanese chicken rice. Then you can head out to explore the murals and street art that decorates Ipoh’s streets. As you stroll around the city, make sure you stop at Convent Lane, a street filled with murals that depict the city’s history.
Day 5: Taiping Lake Gardens and Zoo
On your fifth day in Ipoh, take a day trip to Taiping and visit Taiping Lake Gardens, a beautiful landscaped park that is recognized as one of the most beautiful gardens in Malaysia. Spread across 62 hectares, the garden is home to a wide range of exotic plants, making it an ideal location for a relaxing stroll. After visiting the gardens, head over to Taiping Zoo and Night Safari, which is home to over 180 species of animals including Malayan tigers, lions, and elephants.
Day 6: Sam Poh Tong Temple and Kek Lok Tong Cave Temple
Day 6 is packed with more temple visiting - start the day by exploring the Sam Poh Tong Temple, another limestone cave temple in Ipoh, and is famous for its beautiful Zen garden which is surrounded by calming waterfall sounds. Then visit Kek Lok Tong Cave Temple, a temple located in the western hills of Ipoh that features several beautiful gardens and a stunning cavern filled with stalactites and stalagmites. After this, you can head out to Qing Xin Ling Leisure and Cultural Village, a popular scenic spot where you can enjoy numerous outdoor adventures such as kayaking or trekking.
Day 7: Relax before Departure
The last day of your trip can be set aside to rest before heading back to your original destination. You could spend the day unwinding and relaxing at your hotel or visit one of the many spas in Ipoh that offer massage and spa treatments. Alternatively, you could spend the day exploring Ipoh’s local markets, sampling local food and shopping for souvenirs.
