Trip to Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia
Day 1: Arrival and City Tour
Upon arrival in Kota Kinabalu, you will be greeted by the warm and friendly locals and transfer to your accommodation. After checking in and freshening up, head out for a half day city tour adventure. This tour takes you to some of Kota Kinabalu’s must-visit destinations which include Wisma Tun Fuad, Signal Hill, the Sabah Museum and the State Mosque. In the evening, dine at a local restaurant that serves authentic Malaysian cuisine.
Day 2: Island Tour
Today you will take a day trip to the stunning Manukan Island. Known for its crystal-clear waters, pristine sand beaches, and beautiful coral reefs, Manukan Island is a paradise for snorkelers and divers. Here, you can enjoy activities like sunbathing, swimming and snorkeling. Be sure to try the local seafood delicacies from one of the many beach vendors for lunch.
Day 3: Kinabalu Park and Poring Hot Springs
Rise and shine early, and prepare for a long journey to the Kinabalu Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Upon your arrival, you can have breakfast before beginning your guided tour in the botanical gardens of Kinabalu Park. After that, head over to Poring Hot Springs, where you can take a dip in the mineral-rich hot springs that are said to have therapeutic properties. If you’re feeling adventurous, try the canopy walk, which is 130 feet above the rainforest floor.
Day 4: Traditional village visit
Today you will explore the cultural heritage of Sabah by taking a trip to Mari Mari Cultural Village. This is a unique way to learn about the different ethnic tribes of Sabah, their traditional customs, food, and daily routines. Here, you will also have the opportunity to learn about their hunting methods, bamboo cooking, fire-starting techniques, and try your hand at blowpipe shooting.
Day 5: Free Day
Today is your free day which you can use it to relax and discover Kota Kinabalu at your own pace. You could do some shopping at the Kota Kinabalu Central Market, where you can buy various souvenirs and handicrafts. Alternatively, you might want to check out one of the many cafes, bars, or restaurants and enjoy the local cuisine. When night falls, catch a spectacular view of the city from the famous Signal Hill Observatory point, which provides a panoramic view of Kota Kinabalu’s skyline.
Day 6: Sabah Tea Garden
Today you will travel to the Kundasang highland, where you will visit the Sabah Tea Garden. Surrounded by lush green tea fields and scenic landscapes, this 2000 acres plantation resembles the famous tea fields of Cameron Highlands in Malaysia. Here, you can enjoy a tea-making demonstration and take a stroll in the serene surroundings before heading back to Kota Kinabalu.
Day 7: Departure
Enjoy your final breakfast before packing up and checking out of your accommodation. You can use the rest of the day to do any last-minute shopping, take one more stroll around the city soaking up the sights and sounds or just relax before your transfer to the airport for your flight back home.
