Day 1: Arrival and Rest Day
Arrival at Malacca’s international airport, then recommended head straight to the hotel to rest and relax before exploring the city the next day. If you are not too tired from the flight, consider exploring the city by foot and check out some of the nearby landmarks such as the Stadthuys, A’Famosa Fortress, and Christ Church Melaka.
Day 2: UNESCO World Heritage Sites
Malacca is a UNESCO World Heritage site, has a rich history that spans over 600 years. Start your day off at the iconic Jonker Street, which is known for its vibrant street markets, antiques, and food. Check out some shops that sell batik clothing, which is a traditional Malaysian fabric. Next, head to St. Paul’s Hill and climb up to the top of the hill to see the ruins of St. Paul’s Church. Then, proceed to visit the Portuguese Square, and take a stroll to the Melaka Riverfront. This area is beautifully lit up during the night, and there are many options to dine in for dinner by the river.
Day 3: Traditional Villages and Gardens
Take a break from city life and visit some of the nearby traditional villages and gardens. Start your day at the Kampung Hulu Mosque, which is the oldest mosque in Malacca. After that, visit the traditional Malay village at Kampung Morten and step back in time to learn about the history of Malay culture. Afterwards, take a trip to the Melaka Butterfly and Reptile Sanctuary to see and learn about different species of butterflies and reptiles from Malaysia. End your day at the Hang Li Poh’s well, which is the oldest well in Malaysia that dates back to the 15th century.
Day 4: Beach Day
Relax and unwind by the beach at Pantai Puteri. The beach offers a quiet, peaceful surrounding that is perfect for a picnic, or a BBQ with friends. Refresh yourself in the clear blue water and don’t forget to snap a photo of the nearby lighthouse. After sunset, consider making your way to Malacca city center to enjoy some nightlife. If you prefer a quieter night, visit the night market along Jonker Street.
Day 5: Water Parks and Shopping
Get ready to have some fun and splash around at the A’Famosa Water Theme Park. The theme park has something for everyone from adult-sized water slides to a relaxed lazy river. For those who prefer a more family-friendly park, the Melaka Wonderland Theme Park is a great option. Before heading back to the hotel, stop by the Hatten Square and Dataran Pahlawan Melaka Megamall which are both popular shopping destinations in the area.
Day 6: Food and More Shopping
Malaysia is known for its cuisine and day six is all about exploring Malacca’s food scene. Start your day by trying out the famous local dish, Nasi Lemak, and enjoy a cup of coffee at one of the cafes along the Jonker Walk, the cafe’s surrounding offer a great sense of ambiance and photographic spots. After breakfast, visit the Baba & Nyonya Heritage Museum, which is a museum located in a traditional Peranakan house that focuses on the history and culture of the Peranakan community. In the late afternoon, head over to the Street Art Alley and snap some unique photos with murals around the area. With your evening set, consider stopping by the Malacca Night Market.
Day 7: Departure
All good things must come to an end, and it’s time to say goodbye to Malacca. Pack your bags and head out to the airport. If your flight is later in the day, spend some time in the city to pick up souvenirs or enjoy one last meal in Malacca before heading home.
