Trip to Żebbuġ, Malta
Day 1: Arrival
Upon arrival at the airport in Malta, you can catch a taxi or a shuttle bus to Żebbuġ, which is only a 15-minute drive away. Once you arrive and get settled in, you can take a leisurely stroll around the town to get your bearings and explore the beautiful architecture. You can also visit the charming town square with its lovely church and cafes to have a bite to eat.
Day 2: Visit the Old City of Mdina
Spend the day exploring the enchanting and historic Old City of Mdina, only a 20-minute drive away. This fortified city has narrow streets, unique architecture and has been around since 700 BC. You can enjoy the magnificent views and visit the city’s historic landmarks such as the Cathedral of Saint Paul and the Mdina Dungeons. The town is also known for having several charming cafes and restaurants.
Day 3: Hal Saflieni Hypogeum
On day 3, make a trip to the ancient underground burial site, the Hal Saflieni Hypogeum. This fascinating site is carved out of rock and dates back to around 4000 BC. You can take a guided tour through the chambers, tunnels, and intricate passageways and marvel at how advanced their use of acoustics were for the time.
Day 4: Shopping in Valletta
Take the short drive to Valletta, Malta’s charming capital city which was founded in the 16th century. You can wander through the fascinating narrow streets and alleys, which offer a plethora of fashionable boutiques. Some popular shopping spots include the Old Merchants Street and Republic Street. After shopping, you can enjoy a delicious meal at one of the many great eateries in the area.
Day 5: Visit the Ghar Dalam Cave
Just a short drive away, the Ghar Dalam Cave is an ideal spot to explore the remarkable ancient geological formations and fossils dating back over twenty thousand years. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the informative museum that details prehistoric times and walk through the impressive underground cave system. The museum features exhibitions about Malta’s prehistoric animals, with exhibits dating back to the early Holocene, including Elephants and the Pygmy Hippopotamus.
Day 6: Beach Day
Spend a day at the beach and exploring Malta’s coastline. Beaches in the area include Golden Bay, Riviera Beach, and Mellieha Bay. You can relax in the warm sunshine, swim in the crystal-clear waters, or try some water sports such as snorkelling and kayaking.
Day 7: Nightlife in St. Julian’s
On your final night, head to St. Julian’s, a vibrant town, popular for its nightlife. You can try your luck at the Casino or enjoy the live entertainment offered at various bars and clubs. Bay Street Shopping Mall and Eden Cinemas offer shopping, dining, clubs, and music concerts.
Day 8: Departure
On your last day, take some time to enjoy breakfast and then check out of your hotel or accommodation. From there, you can catch a shuttle bus or taxi back to the airport.
