Day 1: Arrival and Exploration
Welcome to Malta! Upon arrival at Malta International Airport, take a taxi to your hotel in Birkirkara. Take the day to explore the surrounding area and relax. Birkirkara is home to one of the largest and oldest parish churches on the island, St. Helen’s Basilica. The church’s main altar houses a prized painting of the Madonna of Ta’ Pinu, which is believed to have miraculous powers. The church is dedicated to St. Helen and every year, on the 18th of August, a grand procession is held through the town.
Day 2: Explore Mdina and Rabat
Mdina, the former capital of Malta, is known as the ‘silent city’ and is one of Europe’s finest examples of an ancient medieval walled city. Explore the winding alleyways and narrow streets, while taking in the stunning view of the island from atop the walls. Next, visit the nearby town of Rabat to explore its famous Roman Villa and St. Paul’s Catacombs. Here, you can also visit the Wignacourt Museum, housed in a Baroque palace, which is home to a large collection of local artwork.
Day 3: Valletta and the Three Cities
Take a short drive to Valletta, the capital city of Malta and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Wander through the streets of this beautiful city, which is home to the Grandmaster’s Palace and St John’s Cathedral. After lunch, take a ferry to the Three Cities - Vittoriosa, Senglea, and Cospicua - which feature stunning views of the harbor and Fort Saint Angelo.
Day 4: Fishing Village and the Blue Grotto
Head to the picturesque fishing village of Marsaxlokk and take part in a traditional Sunday fish market, where locals and tourists mingle amidst the colorful fishing boats. After lunch, make your way to the nearby Blue Grotto, a natural sea cave formation that glows blue during certain times of the day due to the sun’s reflection. Take a boat ride through the caves and enjoy the stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea.
Day 5: Beach Day in Mellieha
Take a bus to the beautiful sandy beaches of Mellieha, located on the northern side of the island. This charming town is home to several small coves and beaches, which offer crystal clear waters and excellent swimming conditions. After a day at the beach, head to a local restaurant for a delicious Mediterranean meal and drinks.
Day 6: Shopping and Nightlife
Head back to Birkirkara to do some shopping in one of the local markets or shopping centers. In the evening, visit one of the many local bars, pubs, and nightclubs located in St. Julian’s and Paceville. In these neighborhoods, you’ll find a range of entertainment options, including live music and DJ sets.
Day 7: Departure
