Trip to Monterrey, Mexico

Day 1: Arrival

Arrive in Monterrey, check-in at your hotel and relax. Enjoy the hotel’s amenities or take a stroll around the area to get acquainted with your surroundings. There are many fantastic restaurants, cafes and bars located near most of the hotels in the city, so you can always satisfy any food craving of your choice. In the evening, go for a walk or perhaps take in the city’s night views.

Day 2: Museum of Contemporary Art

Start the day by visiting the Museum of Contemporary Art, which contains a great collection of modern art by local artists. Enjoy sculptures, photographs, painting, and film exhibits that have reached international acclaim, making the museum a must-see for art enthusiasts. After you get your fill of the arts, you can walk around Parque Fundidora’s a public park within walking distance of the Museum, this park used to be one of the many cotton mills in the city and has since been repurposed into a public space with gardens and several museums.

Day 3: Macroplaza

Visit the Macroplaza, an expansive public square in the heart of Monterrey which celebrates many of the city’s most important monuments and tourist attractions. The plaza serves as the social and cultural center of the city, and it has a variety of architectural styles, monuments and benches for relaxing. After visiting the Macroplaza walk over to Barrio Antiguo, a historic district with colorful colonial-style buildings. You will find many shops and restaurants, making it a great place to spend a couple of hours in the early evening.

Day 4: Parque Chipinque

Wake up early and head to Parque Chipinque, a beautiful park in the nearby Sierra Madre Mountains, to spend the day hiking and exploring the natural beauty of Monterrey. The park features 3 km of paved path with a 13.5 km trail for hikers who want to enjoy the natural surroundings at their own pace. The park is big enough to provide hikers with an incredible experience, from hiking trails that lead you to the highest peaks to scenic views of Monterrey from atop the mountain.

Day 5: Cumbres de Monterrey National Park

Another day, another outdoor adventure - this time at Cumbres de Monterrey National Park where you can do some rock climbing or explore natural cave formations that have formed millions of years ago. The park also features home to various species of flora and fauna as well as several different ecosystems. This will be an adventurous day out in the open, perfect if you want to get close to nature.

Day 6: Shopping

This day is perfect for shopping in Monterrey. Go to Santa Catarina’s shopping district and explore the many different boutiques and shops. Most of them sell local products like pottery and textiles which stand out as must-visit shops. You can buy for yourself or get souvenirs for your loved ones back home.

Day 7: Departure

This journey has sadly come to an end. You can walk around downtown and if time allows, visit Museo del Obispado, a beautiful pink building that used to be a bishop’s palace that features exhibitions on local history, art and culture of Nuevo Leon region. Afterward, you can grab lunch before heading to the airport to catch a flight back home.
