Trip to Bender, Moldova

Day 1: Arrival

Upon arrival in Bender, you will be picked up at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Once you have checked in and freshened up, take some time to explore your surroundings. Bender is a picturesque town with a rich history, so stroll through the streets and take in the charming sights. You could start your trip with a visit to the Old Town, where you can see the Bender Fortress and the Turkish Baths, which are a fantastic display of Ottoman architecture.

Day 2: Tighina - Military Museum

On the second day, you can visit Tighina, a city that was the former name for Bender. The Tighina Military Memorial Complex is a notable attraction for its historical significance and attention to detail. It is a museum dedicated to battles and soldiers of the Second World War and the War of Transnistria. The museum showcases an unbelievable collection of military vehicles, including tanks, airplanes, and various artillery pieces.

Day 3: Soroca - Fortress and Monastery

Drive to Soroca, a small city situated close to the Ukrainian border. Here you’ll find the impressive Soroca Fortress, which is an exceptional piece of defensive architecture, with winding walls and towers to ensure protection from enemy attacks. The fortress boasts a fantastic view of the city and its surroundings. Besides the Fortress, Soroca has numerous other historic buildings, one of which is the magnificent Soroca Monastery.

Day 4: Take a Wine Tour

Moldova is well-known for its wine production, so take the opportunity to taste some of the best local wines. The Cricova Winery, located half an hour away from Bender, is an excellent choice for wine lovers. The winery has a vast selection of wines, including sparkling wines, still wines, and dessert wines. The winery’s cellars are a world-renowned tourist attraction, and indeed one of the largest in the world covering 75 hectares. You will also have the opportunity to explore the underground wine city, which houses valuable collections of wines and brandies.

Day 5: Bender City Museum

Spend the day getting to know the history and culture of Bender by visiting the Bender City Museum. The museum showcases a vast collection of archaeological finds, Orthodox Christian religious artifacts, and exhibits from the Soviet era. Some of the interesting items in the museum’s collection include intricate embroidery, pottery, military uniforms from different periods, and many other artifacts that showcase the history and traditions of the region.

Day 6: Shopping in Bender

On day 6, you can explore the local markets and shops for souvenirs, crafts, and other items unique to Moldova. The Bender Market is the go-to for travellers looking for a genuine shopping experience. You’ll find typical Moldovan goods, such as handmade ceramics, honey, and painted wooden items. Besides the market, several shops in the area sell traditional Moldovan clothing and handmade jewelry.

Day 7: Nightlife in Bender

Experience Bender’s nightlife on your last night in the city. Whether you prefer cozy restaurants, pubs, or nightclubs, you will find something to suit your style. The most popular venues are located in the city centre, with many great options to choose from.
