Trip to Tetovo, North Macedonia
Day 1: Arrival
Welcome to Tetovo — a city rich in history, culture, and breathtaking natural landscapes. After a long flight, start your day with a low-key activity by satisfying your taste buds with some mouth-watering Macedonian cuisine at one of the many restaurants in city’s main square, Cesmata. Try a plate of the famous Macedonian burek or Tavce Gravce which is a traditional dish made of beans.
Day 2: National Park Mavrovo
Get an early start and head to the National Park Mavrovo. It is home to some spectacular panoramic views, waterfalls, and stunning flora and fauna. Go on a hiking tour of the Jablanica mountain or try your hand at skiing at the Mavrovo Ski Center. If skiing isn’t your thing there are plenty of other activities to choose from like horseback riding, fishing or simply taking a leisurely walk around the park.
Day 3: Painted Mosque & Arabati Baba Teke
Visit the Painted Mosque, considered to be one of the highlights of the city. The mosque’s intricate designs and geometric patterns add to its visual appeal. The attraction is a testament to the Ottoman influence in the region. After the mosque visit, take a short walk to Arabati Baba Teke. It is a unique religious complex that attracts visitors looking for spiritual enlightenment.
Day 4: Tetovo Bazaar
Take a trip to Tetovo Bazaar, filled with lively atmosphere, colorful shops, and local vendors selling fresh produce. This is a great opportunity to pick up souvenirs, handicrafts, and other locally made products. The bazaar is also known for its cafes and restaurants serving authentic Macedonian fare. For nightlife, head to Zona X, which is located within the bazaar area, to enjoy some traditional live music, drinks, and party atmosphere.
Day 5: Sarena Dzamija & Cento Club
Today explore the Sarena Dzamija, also known as the Sharena Mosque. It is one of the newest in North Macedonia built-in the late 20th century. It is famous because its geometric patterns were not executed in paint but by using tiles of different colors. After the mosque visit, head over to the Cento Club, a local hotspot in Tetovo known for its live music and energetic atmosphere.
Day 6: Lakeside Stroll
Take a relaxing day today by going on a lakeside stroll around the Ohrid Lake. This trip offers a chance to enjoy the scenery and relax amidst the natural beauty. In the evening, Wind down while having a cup of coffee by the Lake’s shore or visit one of the local lakeside restaurants to enjoy some fresh seafood.
Day 7: Departure
Sadly it’s your last day in Tetovo. Before you leave visit one of the local art galleries or museums like the Daut Pasha Hamam and learn about the local art, traditions and culture before heading to the airport for your departure.
