Trip to Chiclayo, Peru

Day 1: Arrival and Relaxation

Welcome to Chiclayo! After a long flight, start your trip by checking into your hotel and taking some time to relax and recharge. Depending on the time of your arrival, you might want to venture out and take a stroll through the city center. Take in the sights and sounds of the city and get a feel for the local culture. Day 2: Royal Tombs Museum and Tucume Pyramid Complex

For your first full day in Chiclayo, start by visiting the Royal Tombs Museum. This fascinating museum houses the ancient tombs of the Moche people, offering a unique insight into the lives and traditions of these ancient civilizations. From there, head to the Tucume Pyramid Complex to explore the impressive adobe pyramids of the Lambayeque culture. These structures were built over a thousand years ago and are a hallmark of the region’s rich history.

Day 3: Sipán Huaca Rajada and Chaparri Reserve

Today begins with a trip to the Huaca Rajada archaeological site. Here, you can marvel at the treasures and artifacts unearthed from the tombs of the ancient Moche lords. Known for its conservation of endangered species, including the Andean spectacled bear, this reserve offers guided hikes and bird watching tours.

Day 4: Puerto Eten Beach and Pimentel Beach

In the evening, head back to the city center to explore the local markets and indulge in some shopping.

Day 5: Sican National Museum and Sailboats Excursion

Today, visit the Sican National Museum to learn about the fascinating culture of the Lambayeque people. See artifacts including pottery, gold, and silver, while admiring the impressive architecture of the museum. In the afternoon, take a scenic sailboat excursion along the beautiful coastline, watching the sunset over the Pacific Ocean.

Day 6: Mercado Modelo and Huaca Chotuna

For your penultimate day in Chiclayo, start by visiting Mercado Modelo – one of the city’s largest and most vibrant local markets. Here, you can find everything from fresh produce and traditional crafts to souvenirs and clothing. Later, visit the Huaca Chotuna pyramid and fortress – a key historical site that was once the stronghold of the Sicán civilization.

Day 7: Departure
