Trip to Huaraz, Peru

Day 1: Arrival and City Tour

Upon arrival in Huaraz, check into your hotel and start exploring the city. A great way to get a feel for the area is by taking a guided city tour. Enjoy strolling through the city’s charming streets and squares, while admiring the beautiful colonial-era buildings. Visit the Plaza de Armas, where you can see the impressive Cathedral of Huaraz and take a look at the region’s rich history at the Regional Museum of Ancash. Enjoy the evening getting to know the vibrant nightlife scene in Huaraz, with its local bars and restaurants.

Day 2: Pastoruri Glacier and Llanganuco Lakes

Experience the spectacular scenery of the Andes Mountains on a day trip to the Pastoruri Glacier and Llanganuco Lakes. Start the day by driving 4 hours from Huaraz to the glacier, located at 16,000 feet above sea level. At the glacier, you will discover pristine snow, ice formations, and magnificent vistas. Afterward, visit the Llanganuco Lakes, known for their turquoise waters surrounded by the towering Andes Mountains.

Day 3: Chavín de Huantar and Callejón de Conchucos

Today, you’ll head out on a full-day trip to Chavín de Huantar and Callejón de Conchucos. You will visit the ancient archaeological site of Chavín de Huantar and its well-preserved temple. This site is one of the oldest and most important pre-Columbian ruins in Peru. You will also head up the scenic mountainous path of Callejón de Conchucos, where you will find beautiful Andean landscapes, traditional villages, and people with a strong cultural identity.

Day 4: Laguna Parón and Hiking

After breakfast, visit the beautiful Alpine lake, Laguna Parón, located about 2 hours from Huaraz. Surrounded by snow-capped peaks such as Pirámide de Garcilaso and the Cordillera Blanca, the lake looks like a mirror reflecting the Andean scenery. You can take a hike to the edge of the lake and enjoy the stunning views. Afterward, return to the hotel and enjoy the evening in Huaraz with its local bars and restaurants.

Day 5: San Antonio and Pariacaca

Today, take a scenic tour of San Antonio and Pariacaca. Visit the town of San Antonio, known for its range of traditional artisan workshops such as weaving and woodworking. Discover unique handicrafts and pottery products in Pariacaca made by local craftspeople. You can also enjoy the views of beautiful waterfalls and stunning scenery surrounding the area.

Day 6: Huascaran National Park and skiing

Today, you will explore the largest national park in Peru, the Huascaran National Park. Embark on a skiing adventure in the gorgeous Andes Mountains, home to some of the world’s highest peaks, including the Mount Huascara. Taking it slow is an enjoyable experience for non-skiing tourists, who can take in the beauty of the pristine, snow-covered slopes and indulge in some photography.
