Trip to Amadora, Portugal

Day 1: Arrival and Rest

Upon your arrival at Lisbon Portela Airport, you can take a taxi or a train to get to Amadora city. The journey will take around 30 minutes. Once you arrive at your hotel, you may want to rest for the day after a long journey. In the evening, you can go to a nearby restaurant and try traditional Portuguese cuisine like grilled sardines or octopus salad. You can also enjoy a walk in nearby Parque da Paz, which has a beautiful lake and lush green areas.

Day 2: Lisbon Sightseeing

Start your day by taking a short train ride to Lisbon, which is around 15 minutes from Amadora. You will then head towards the historic Alfama district, which has charming narrow streets and traditional Fado music houses. After that, you can see the Belem Tower, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and then visit the Jeronimos Monastery. In the evening, you can go to the Bairro Alto neighborhood for its vibrant and diverse nightlife that never disappoints visitors.

Day 3: Discover Sintra

Sintra is a beautiful town in Portugal located a few miles from Amadora. In the morning, take a train from Amadora to Sintra and explore Quinta da Regaleira, which is an art palace surrounded by enchanting gardens with mystical architecture and secret tunnels. You can also visit Pena Palace, which is a Neo-romantic palace situated on a hilltop with stunning views of the valley. Besides the palace, there is a beautifully landscaped park that you can stroll through in the afternoon.

Day 4: Monsanto Forest Park

Monsanto, known as Lisbon’s green lung, is one of Europe’s largest urban parks and provides ample opportunity for hiking, biking, picnicking, and relaxing in nature. You can visit the exploring center and get a map to go for a walk or bike ride along one of the several trails and paths. Make sure to bring food for a picnic and enjoy their serene environment. You will be able to enjoy architectural attractions around the park which includes the Panóptico de Monsanto viewpoint which offers breathtaking views of the city.

Day 5: Explore Amadora city

After a few days of traveling, it is important to slow down, relax and explore the local area. Start your day by enjoying a leisurely breakfast at the local cafe. Fill up your leisurely day with a visit to the Municipal Museum of Amadora. The museum offers various exhibitions on Amadora’s history from Iron Age times to the contemporary era. In the afternoon, enjoy a stroll through the streets, check out local architecture, markets, and shop for souvenirs. Open till midnight, the Fashion Clinic, located in the heart of Amadora city, provides posh and trendy fashion options.

Day 6: Wine Tasting in Setúbal

Setúbal is a seaside town about an hour’s drive from Amadora that is known for its stunning beaches, fantastic seafood, and wines. Visit the Adega Mayor Wine Cellar located in the Setúbal region. You can learn about wine production, enjoy a wine tasting and purchase top-quality wines here. After wine tasting, visit the nearby unique Arrabida Natural Park or go on a boat ride to experience the beautiful coastline of Sesimbra beach.

Day 7: Departure

On your last day, you can enjoy the hotel amenities and leisurely breakfast before heading back to Lisbon Portela Airport to catch your departing flight. It will take around 30 minutes from Amadora to reach the Airport, so make sure to leave plenty of time before your flight. You can also collect some souvenirs at the airport or even enjoy the last-minute shopping for the things you missed out earlier on your Lisbon trip.
