Trip to Luquillo, Puerto Rico

Day 1: Arrival and relaxing at the beach

Welcome to Luquillo, Puerto Rico! Upon your arrival at San Juan Airport, a driver will be waiting to take you to your hotel. You’ll be staying at Luquillo Sunrise Beach Inn, conveniently located just steps away from Luquillo Beach. After checking in and settling down, you may want to head straight to the beach to soak up the sun. Luquillo Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Puerto Rico and is known for its calm waters, soft sand and stunning views. You can go for a swim or just relax on the beach with a good book. A few hours of seaside relaxation will help you to reset your body clock for the week ahead.

Day 2: A day trip to El Yunque National Forest

On day two, you’ll take an all-day trip to the famous El Yunque National Forest, about 20 minutes away by car. El Yunque is a stunning rainforest which is home to many native plants and animals. You’ll have the chance to hike through the forest, swim in the rivers and waterfalls, and enjoy breathtaking views of the mountains. One of the must-see sights is La Mina Falls, a popular area where visitors can swim in the crystal-clear waters of the falls.

Day 3: Exploring Luquillo

Start your day with a delicious breakfast at Boardriders Surf Bar and Grill. Today you will be exploring Luquillo town and the surrounding areas. Visit the famous Luquillo kiosks where you can enjoy a variety of local street food and shop for souvenirs, clothing, and crafts. Stop by at La Chiva Gourmet, a chic eatery that offers a wide selection of Puerto Rican and international dishes. After lunch, head to Las Paylas Beach, known for its crystal-clear calm waters and beautiful palm trees surround. If you enjoy snorkeling, then you must visit nearby Seven Seas Beach, one of the best places for snorkeling in Luquillo and beyond.

Day 4: Bio Bay Kayak Tour

Today you will enjoy a Bio Bay Kayak tour in the evening. The tour starts at sunset and lasts for about two hours. You will kayak through the mangrove canals to Laguna Grande, where you will get to witness the magical bioluminescent effect. The lights of millions of tiny microorganisms in the water create a stunning effect that is sure to leave you speechless. This unique experience is sure to be one of the highlights of your trip.

Day 5: Catamaran Excursion to Icacos Island

Today, take a catamaran excursion to Icacos Island, one of the most beautiful and secluded islands off the coast of Luquillo. The island is home to a beautiful coral reef that is perfect for snorkeling and scuba diving. You’ll get to explore the island, sunbathe, swim, and snorkel in crystal clear waters. The tour includes lunch and drinks, so all you have to do is sit back, relax, and enjoy the beautiful island scenery.

Day 6: An evening in San Juan

Today, take the day to relax at the beach or pool and get some last-minute shopping done. In the evening, take a trip to San Juan, the capital of Puerto Rico. Visit Old San Juan, one of the oldest and most historic cities in the Caribbean. Walk around the colorful streets, take in the beautiful architecture, and visit the various museums and galleries. You can have dinner at the famous Barrachina Restaurant, the birthplace of the piña colada and enjoy some nightlife at some of the many bars and clubs.

Day 7: Departure

Today it is time to say goodbye to Luquillo and check-out of the hotel. A driver will be waiting to take you back to San Juan Airport for your return flight home.
