Day 1: Arrival and Rest Day
Welcome to Ponce! Start your day by taking some time to settle into your accommodation and relax. Ponce is a beautiful city and you’ll soon discover its charming streets, architecture, and beautiful scenery. Once you’re ready to start exploring, head over to the historic town center La Plaza de las Delicias. Here you can admire the beautiful colonial architecture and visit the beautiful Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Day 2: Ponce Museum Day
Explore the rich history and art culture of Ponce by visiting the many museums located throughout the city. One of the most remarkable is the Ponce Museum of Art, which houses over 4,500 objects representing multiple art forms. The museum has a beautiful collection of pre-Columbian artifacts, 19th-century European paintings, and contemporary works of art. After that, head over to the Crispiniano Acosta Museum and Art Gallery to learn more about Ponce’s rich architectural and cultural history.
Day 3: Beach Day
Leave the bustling city behind and soak up the sun on one of Ponce’s beautiful beaches. Playa de Ponce is a great option, with its white sand and crystal-clear waters; it’s the perfect place to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Take a dip in the water and indulge in a refreshing drink or tasty local food from one of the vendors that line the beach.
Day 4: Hiking and Nature Day
Experience the natural beauty that Ponce has to offer by taking a trip to the El Yunque National Forest. Here you can hike through lush rainforest, swim in natural pools, and take a break on the scenic trails. The Waterfall Charco Azul is a beautiful destination with blue-green waters running down the rocks leading into a small stream. All the way, you will also encounter some exotic birds and flowers that you might have only heard of before.
Day 5: Coffee Plantation Tour
Get to know Puerto Rico’s coffee growing industry and take a tour of Hacienda Buena Vista. Here, you will learn about the coffee-making process, see the coffee trees up close, and taste some of the best coffee in the region. After the tour, enjoy a coffee and relax surrounded by the beautiful landscape that you just learned about.
Day 6: Historic Landmarks and Shopping
Explore the charming streets of Ponce and visit historical landmarks such as Parque de Bombas, which was once the city’s fire station. Be sure to visit Casa Wiechers-Villaronga, a beautiful neoclassical mansion that was built at the end of the 19th century. Here you can enjoy the beautiful architecture and learn about the house’s rich history. After that, find yourself some souvenirs by walking around the Plaza del Caribe Mall, the biggest mall in the southern part of the island.
Day 7: Nightlife and Celebration
Indulge in the captivating nightlife of Ponce and make the most of your final day in the city. Head over to La Guancha Boardwalk, which is on the outskirts of the city and enjoy a drink or two overlooking the beautiful sea. After that, you can head over to El Balcón de las Bellas Artes to watch a live performance or get some dancing lessons and salsa the night away in one of the many famous clubs located in the city center.
