Trip to Vieques, Puerto Rico
Day 1: Arrival and Relaxation
Upon your arrival at the Antonio Rivera Rodríguez Airport, you will be transported to your chosen accommodation. Once you have settled in, take a stroll along the stunning beaches of Vieques. Head to Playa Caracas, known for its crystal-clear waters and white sand, or the popular Red Beach, where you might spot bioluminescent plankton after dusk.
Day 2: Bio Bay and Snorkeling
Today, you will embark on a thrilling kayak tour of the Vieques’ bio bay. This bioluminescent bay is a must-see at night when the microorganisms light up the waters. During the day, hire a boat and go snorkeling to see some of the Caribbean’s most colorful fish and coral reefs.
Day 3: Island Exploration
Rent a jeep or ATV today, and you’ll have your transportation sorted for the day. Begin your island exploration by driving to the far end of the island and hiking to the hidden beach called Playa La Chiva. Pass through beautiful tropical forests and arrive at this perfect beach where you can enjoy snorkeling in the calm lagoon-like waters. Later, continue your journey to Esperanza, a charming seaside town loaded with colorful restaurants, bars, and shops.
Day 4: Horseback Riding and Beaches
Today, you will learn how to ride a horse and wander through Vieques’s idyllic scenery. Go for a ride through the lush green tropical forest and discover breathtaking sceneries of the flowers, farms, and wildlife of the island. Stop by one of the island’s pristine beaches along the way for a refreshing swim in the turquoise waters.
Day 5: Cayo de Tierra
Take a boat from Esperanza and head to the uninhabited island of Cayo de Tierra. The boat ride offers the best view of the beautiful Caribbean waters. Spend your day relaxing on the white sand beaches or snorkeling in the crystal clear waters.
Day 6: Vieques National Wildlife Refuge
A must-see spot for nature lovers, Vieques National Wildlife Refuge is the perfect place to spot wild horses and birdlife. Grab your hiking boots, and head out to the trails, where you’ll discover peaceful beaches and incredible views of the horizon.
